AMERICAN GOULASH
American goulash, also known as old-fashioned goulash, is the perfect economical family meal. The pasta cooks right in the sauce, so this satisfying dish can cook in just one pot.

Steps:
- Heat oil in a large saucepan over medium-high heat. Add onion and beef; cook, breaking up meat with a wooden spoon, until no longer pink, about 5 minutes. Add garlic, paprika, Italian seasoning, salt and pepper; cook, stirring, for 1 minute. Stir in tomatoes and their juices, tomato sauce and broth. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat to medium-low, cover and cook for 5 minutes. Add macaroni and cook, uncovered, stirring occasionally, until tender, 6 to 9 minutes. Remove from heat and let stand for 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with Parmesan, if desired.

I got the original recipe from The American Heart Association recipe collection but I changed it up a little to make it better suited for what I wanted.

Steps:
- Cook macaroni according to package directions, omitting salt.
- Drain and set aside.
- Brown ground beef with mushrooms, onion, peppers and garlic.
- Pour off fat.
- Add remaining ingredients.
- Simmer gently for 15 minutes.
- Add cooked macaroni.
- Simmer for 10 minutes.
- Serve.

Steps:
- 1. In a large saute pan or pot, add the oil, ground beef, garlic, onion and peppers and cook over medium high heat until the beef is browned and the onions and peppers are turning translucent. 2. Add the paprika, black pepper, red wine vinegar, tomatoes, and sauce and let simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. 3. While the meat mixture is simmering, cook the pasta to an almost al dente status, then drain the pasta and add to the meat and sauce to finish cooking for 5 more minutes. 4. Serve into bowls and top with some shredded cheese and serve.

CLASSIC GOULASH

Steps:
- Cook and stir the ground beef in a large Dutch oven over medium-high heat, breaking the meat up as it cooks, until the meat is no longer pink and has started to brown, about 10 minutes. Skim off excess fat, and stir in the onions and garlic. Cook and stir the meat mixture until the onions are translucent, about 10 more minutes.
- Stir water, tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, soy sauce, Italian seasoning, bay leaves, and seasoned salt into the meat mixture and bring to a boil over medium heat. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Stir macaroni into the mixture, cover, and simmer over low heat until the pasta is tender, about 25 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat, discard bay leaves, and serve.

Steps:
- Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add macaroni and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until al dente; drain.
- In a large saucepan, brown the ground beef with the onion, green pepper, and mushrooms; drain. Add corn, peas, stewed tomatoes, crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, tomato sauce, and water. Stir and bring to boil over medium heat. Mix in garlic, parmesan cheese, parsley, salt, pepper, sugar and simmer for 20 to 25 minutes.
- Mix together cooked macaroni and meat sauce. Serve hot or refrigerate for later.

- Set the Instant Pot to the sauté setting and adjust to high. When it reads HOT add in broken up ground beef. Add in the onion, pepper and pre-minced garlic. Brown the beef for about 5 minutes. Drain off any excess grease. Turn off the sauté setting. Scrape any bits off the bottom of the Instant Pot.
- Add to pot in order: Lay the cabbage on top of the beef. Then sprinkle paprika and the rice on top of the cabbage. Pour broth over the top of the rice. Then add the whole cans of diced tomatoes and tomato sauce and spread evenly around. Do not stir though.
- Cover the Instant Pot and secure the lid. Set the valve to sealing. Set the manual pressure cook button to 8 minutes. When the time is up let the pot sit for 10 minutes and then move the valve to venting. After fully venting remove the lid.
