This treasured recipe is the only one she ever wrote down! -Janet Hall, Clinton, Wisconsin

Anotehr of my Mom's recipes, I do love to share them with everyone, she is no longer with me, and it feels good to share this part of her with everyone. She worked in a small home-cooking bakery in our small hometown, for years, a fantastic cook, and I have always aspired to be as good as my Mom in the kitchen, I don't think my time has come yet, but it sure is fun trying!! GRANDMA'S CLASSIC NO-BAKE COOKIES

Grandma's Classic No-Bake Cookies image

This is the first cookie I ever learned to make as a child. They're very delicious with the peanut butter and oatmeal. You can eat them fresh out of the pan in a bowl with a spoon, which is delicious with a glass of milk besides. This no-bake cookie recipe was my grandmother's, and my mother taught it to her children, and I will to mine. I hope you have as much fun making this either by yourself or with your children, as I did with my mom. Separate cookies with waxed paper if putting in a tin or baggie to prevent sticking.

TOP SECRET RECIPES | GRANDMA'S PEANUT BUTTER BIG COOKIES
Update 1/13/17: For an improved recipe, replace the 1/2 cup shortening with 3/4 cup softened unsalted butter. Also, reduce the baking soda to 1 1/2 teaspoons. 2 teaspoons is too much. Also, raising the oven temperature a little—to 300 degrees F—will help with browning and still keep the cookies chewy. Bake for 15 to 18 minutes.
