This is peanut butter and jelly with a twist. The kids will thank you for them.

2 teaspoons butter
2 slices white bread
1 teaspoon peanut butter
2 teaspoons any flavor fruit jelly

Steps:

  • Heat griddle or skillet to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Spread butter on one side of each slice of bread. Spread peanut butter on unbuttered side of one slice of bread, and jelly on the other. Place one slice, buttered side down on the griddle. Top with other slice, so that peanut butter and jelly are in the middle. Cook for 4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown, and heated through.

A great variation to the daily PB & J sandwich. I love to eat PB & J sanwiches every day for lunch so I decided to try something a little different. I came up with this delicious, easy to make sandwich that I also love.

2 slices bread
1 tablespoon butter
1 -1 1/2 tablespoon peanut butter
1 -1 1/2 tablespoon jelly, of your choice or 1 -1 1/2 tablespoon jam

Steps:

  • Butter one side of each slice of bread.
  • Spread peanut butter on the reverse side of one of the slices.
  • Spread jelly/jam on the reverse side of the other slice.
  • Place one slice of bread butter side down in a skillet on top of the burner.
  • Place the other slice of bread on top of the first slice, butter side up to make a sandwich.
  • Grill evenly on both sides until golden brown.

Steps:

  • Preheat a skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Spread half the butter on one side of each slice of bread. Flip over and spread a layer of peanut butter on the reverse side. Spread a layer of jelly on top of one of the peanut buttered sides, then flip the other slice of bread on top to close the sandwich, butter-side up.
  • Place the sandwich in the hot skillet and cook until golden brown, about 1-3 minutes. Flip and repeat on the other side. Remove from skillet and let cool. You can refrigerate or freeze the sandwich to speed this process up to make cutting it less messy.
  • Once cooled, use a serrated knife to cut the sandwich into 4 slices. Serve with additional peanut butter or jelly on the side for dipping.

  • Heat pan or griddle on medium heat.
  • Spread peanut butter on one side of each slice of bread. If using jelly, be sure to mix the peanut butter and jelly together before spreading the combination on the slices of bread.

2 to 3 slices bacon, cut into 2 or 3 pieces each
1/2 medium yellow onion, halved and thinly sliced
Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
4 tablespoons peanut butter
2 slices sourdough bread
1 tablespoon apricot or peach jam
2 ounces grated manchego cheese
1 slice provolone
1 slice Swiss cheese
3 tablespoons mayonnaise

Steps:

  • Heat a nonstick skillet over medium heat until hot. Add the bacon to the skillet and cook until not quite crisp, about 2 minutes per side; remove to a plate. Add the onions to the skillet, season with a pinch of salt and pepper and cook until golden, about 10 minutes. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain any fat. Wipe the skillet and place it back on the heat.
  • Begin building the rest of the sandwich: Spread peanut butter on both slices of bread, then spread jam on both slices as well. Place the manchego on one of the slices, then cut the provolone in half and place on top of the manchego. Cut the Swiss cheese in half and place on top of the jam on the other slice. Pile the onions on top of the provolone cheese, followed by the pieces of bacon. Make the sandwich by closing the 2 filled sides of bread together and press slightly to help it all stay together.
  • Spread the top of the sandwich with half the mayonnaise. Place the sandwich into the skillet mayonnaise-side down. Spread the rest of the mayonnaise on the top of the sandwich. Fry until the outsides of the sandwich are golden brown and the cheese in the middle is melted, 3 to 4 minutes each side. Cut in half and serve.
