HAM AND APPLE WRAPS WITH DIP



Ham and Apple Wraps with Dip image

This is a great healthy snack for after school.

1/4 cup plain low-fat yogurt
1 to 2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
1 Granny Smith apple, cored, quartered, and cut into 16 equal-size wedges
4 ounces cheddar cheese, cut into 16 pieces
4 ounces thinly sliced deli ham, cut lengthwise into sixteen 1-inch strips

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, stir together yogurt and mustard until smooth; set dip aside. On one apple wedge, center a piece of cheese; wrap tightly around middle with a strip of ham. Repeat with remaining apple, cheese, and ham. Serve with dip on the side.

Ham, Swiss and Apple Wraps image

1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
1/3 cup low-fat plain yogurt
2 tablespoons chopped fresh dill or parsley
2 tablespoons honey mustard
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
Kosher salt and freshly ground pepper
1 1/2 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
4 ounces sliced lean ham (preferably low-sodium), torn into bite-size pieces
3 ounces sliced Swiss cheese, cut into strips
1 romaine lettuce heart, torn into bite-size pieces
1 apple, thinly sliced
4 whole-wheat wraps or tortillas
3 cups strawberries, halved

Steps:

  • Soak the red onion in a bowl of ice water, 10 minutes. Drain the onion and squeeze dry.
  • Whisk the yogurt, dill, honey mustard, and salt and pepper to taste in a large bowl. Slowly drizzle in the olive oil and 1 tablespoon water, whisking until combined. Add the onion, ham, cheese, lettuce and apple and toss to coat. Pile the ham mixture in the middle of each wrap. Fold in the sides, then roll up the wraps. Cut in half and serve with the strawberries.

1 granny smith apple
1 slice lemon
2 slices cheddar cheese, cut in half
2 slices deli turkey or ham, cut in half

Steps:

  • 1. Slice the apple into 1/2 inch thick slices. Rub the apple with the lemon wedge to prevent from going brown.
  • 2. Slice the cheddar cheese into 1/2 inch wide slices and the ham in 1/2 or in 1/4 (the ham needs to be large enough to wrap around the apple).
  • 3. Place an apple slice and a cheese slice on top of the deli meat and fold over deli meat to wrap.

2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
2 tablespoons honey
4 slices sourdough bread
4 ounces thinly sliced deli ham
8 thin slices apple
1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese
4-1/2 teaspoons butter, softened

Steps:

  • Combine mustard and honey; spread 2 tablespoons mixture over two bread slices. Layer with ham, apple and cheese. Spread remaining bread with remaining mustard mixture; place on top. Butter outsides of sandwiches., In a small skillet over medium heat, toast sandwiches for 2-3 minutes on each side or until cheese is melted.

Ham and Cheese Wraps image

This recipe is adapted from a Pampered Chef recipe out of their 2004 Spring / Summer "Season's Best" cookbook. The original recipe calls for iceburg lettuce, tomatoes and green bell peppers, but I have made some changes to adapt for our family's taste. This is a great base start and the combination possabilities are endless.

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 slices whole wheat sandwich wraps, I use Italian flavored or 6 slices flour tortillas
8 ounces fat free cream cheese
2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon honey
2 cups fresh spinach leaves
12 slices ham
6 slices swiss cheese
12 slices bacon, pre-cooked strips
1/4 cup banana pepper ring (optional, also known as pepperochini's)

Steps:

  • Combine cream cheese, honey and mustard in a small bowl.
  • Spread cream cheese mixture onto one side of each flat bread wrap.
  • Add layer of spinach over cream cheese mixture, then layer of ham (2 slices per wrap). Press down firmly.
  • Add layer of sliced swiss cheese (1 slice per wrap), then layer with bacon (2 slices per wrap).
  • Add pepperochini's as an option.
  • Roll each wrap, then cut diagonally with a serated (bread) knife.
