This copycat Spaghettios recipe couldn't be easier to make! Just a few ingredients and about 15 minutes is all you need!

1 pound circle shape pasta (or any small pasta shape)
2 tablespoons butter
2 1/2 cups tomato sauce
1/4 whole milk or cream
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/2 teaspoon sugar
Black pepper and parmesan cheese if desired

Steps:

  • Cook that pasta according to the package directions and drain.
  • Return the pasta to the pot and add the butter, stirring to melt. Once the butter is melted, add the tomato sauce, milk, garlic powder, salt and sugar to the pot and stir.
  • Serve as is or with fresh black pepper and grated parmesan cheese on top.

Homemade SpaghettiOs are the ultimate comfort food! Make with just a handful of simple pantry ingredients, this recipe comes together in less than 30 minutes and can be a side, or a full meal!

2 tablespoons olive oil
2-3 cloves garlic, minced (or pressed)
Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional)
7 tablespoons tomato paste
½ teaspoon onion powder
¼ teaspoon black pepper
1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
¼ teaspoon sugar (optional)
4 cups of water
2 chicken bouillon cubes (or vegetable)
2 cups dry anellini pasta (or ditalini will work too)
⅓ cup freshly grated Pecorino Romano cheese

Steps:

  • SAUTE: Add olive oil and minced garlic to a cold, large saucepan. Heat over low heat. The garlic will take 3-4 minutes to start sizzling, when it does, crank up the heat to medium, add the red pepper flakes, tomato paste, onion powder, and ¼ teaspoon pepper and allow the tomato paste to bloom and cook for 1-2 minutes or until it deepens in color and becomes a dark maroon. Stir often so it doesn't stick to the bottom of the pan.
  • BOIL: Add the apple cider vinegar, sugar, and stir to combine. Pour in the water and bouillon cubes, turn the heat up to high and bring to a boil. When boiling, lower the heat to medium-low, add the pasta and stir to combine. The soup should be simmering but not too rapidly; cook the pasta for 12-16 minutes (typically, it takes 1-2 minutes over package instructions but start checking at the time the package indicates.) Stir often with a wooden spoon to make sure the pasta isn't sticking to the bottom of the pot. Test the pasta for doneness. When it's fully cooked, and the liquid thickens to a thicker consistency, stir in the cheese. Taste and adjust seasonings as desired. Serve the SpaghettiOs in bowls, top with additional grated cheese before serving, if desired.

1/2 pound mild Italian sausage (casings removed)
1 tablespoon butter
1/4 cup diced onion
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 clove garlic (minced)
1 1/2 teaspoon tomato paste or ketchup
4 ounces (1 cup) anelli, macaroni, conchiglie, or orecchiette
1 (14-ounce can) crushed tomatoes (San Marzano if you can get them)
1 to 1 1/2 cups chicken broth
1 1/2 teaspoon apple cider vinegar
1 teaspoon granulated sugar
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Shredded Parmesan cheese (optional for topping)

Steps:

  • Scoop your sausage into approximately 16 half-ounce balls and roll into tablespoon-size meatballs. In a medium to large skillet, melt butter over medium-high heat.
  • Add meatballs to the pan and cook a couple minutes per side until completely browned. Transfer meatballs to a plate.
  • Turn heat down to medium. Add onions, salt, and pepper to the pan and cook until the edges of the onions turn translucent, 4 to 5 minutes.
  • Add garlic and tomato paste/ketchup and cook for 30 seconds to 1 minute, until garlic is lightly golden.
  • Pour in pasta, crushed tomatoes, 1 cup of chicken broth, apple cider vinegar, sugar, and oregano, and stir together. Return meatballs to the pan. Bring to a boil and turn stove down so your mixture is just at a simmer. Cook for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, and adding a bit more of the chicken broth if too much of the liquid simmers away.
  • Dinner is done when the meatballs are cooked through and pasta is al dente.
  • Serve with Parmesan cheese if desired, and enjoy!

  • Chop carrots and celery.
  • Place tomatoes, celery and carrots in a pot and boil for about 10-15 minutes.

⅓ cup (1 ½ oz/45g) pasta
1 cup (8oz / 230g) water, hot
2 teaspoons cornflour ((cornstarch))
4 tablespoons pasta sauce ((tomato sauce))
2 tablespoons milk

Steps:

  • In a large microwavable mug or large bowl add in the pasta and the water. You need a large mug as the water will boil up.
  • Microwave for roughly another 3 ½ minutes or until tender. You want the pasta to be fully cooked. (timing is based on my 1200W microwave so your timing might vary)
  • Pour off the remaining cooking water.
  • Stir in the cornstarch, tomato sauce and milk and microwave for a final 60 seconds or until the sauce thickens. The cornstarch is the thickener for the sauce.
  • Stir well, season with salt and pepper and enjoy.

¼ cup milk of choice (I tested this with unflavored almond milk as well as 2%)
⅓ cup parmesan cheese or nutritional yeast
⅔ teaspoon of dried oregano
½ teaspoon of garlic powder
2 tablespoons of tomato paste
1 1/4 cup of tomato sauce
½ teaspoon of paprika
¼ teaspoon of dried sage
salt and pepper to taste

Steps:

  • Cook pasta according to packaging instructions. Drain and add back into the pot.
  • With the pasta over low heat, stir in the remaining ingredients, adding salt and pepper to taste.

1/3 cup tomato paste
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
12 ounces circular pasta or small tube pasta (like ditalini)
1-2 tablespoons whole milk (or half and half)

Steps:

  • Add the broth to a pot over medium heat. Stir in the tomato paste, garlic powder, and salt. Bring to a simmer.
  • Stir in the pasta. Let the pasta cook for about 10-15 minutes or until tender, stirring every 4-5 minutes to keep the pasta from sticking to the bottom of the pot.
  • Once cooked, stir in the milk. Season with more salt if desired. Serve alone or with parmesan cheese on top.

16 oz tomato sauce*
2 Tbsp tomato paste
1/4 tsp garlic powder
1/4 tsp paprika
1/4 tsp onion powder
1/8 tsp dried thyme (optional)
1/2 tsp salt
1 Tbsp honey (optional)
6 Tbsp milk
2 Tbsp butter
1 cup packed cheddar cheese, shredded (about 5 oz)
2 cups small pasta, about 8 oz (ditalini if you're shopping in store, or anelletti for the traditional O-shaped noodles)*
additional salt, to taste

Steps:

  • Start with the pasta and cook, on medium-high, al dente, according to the directions on the package, stirring occasionally.
  • Meanwhile, combine tomato sauce, tomato paste, spices, milk and butter in a saucepan and bring to a simmer. The honey is optional but adds the signature "sweet" taste that you're used to in spaghetti O's. If you add it, add it with the milk and butter.
  • Add cheese and stir until melted. Turn heat to low until pasta is done.
  • Strain pasta when done and portion into serving bowls.
  • Ladle finished sauce over pasta, adding more sauce for those who like it saucy!
