Air Fryer Salmon: Fresh and Frozen image

This air fryer salmon is flaky and tender and just a little crispy on the edges, similar to a pan sear. You can cook fresh or frozen salmon in the air fryer and this post shows you how to do both!

1 lb fresh or frozen salmon
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/2 tablespoon lemon juice (from about 1/2 small lemon)
1 small clove garlic, grated or minced
1 teaspoon dijon mustard
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

Steps:

  • Cut salmon into desired filets (if not already cut).
  • Preheat air fryer to 390 degrees F.
  • In a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, mustard, salt and pepper until combined.
  • Brush salmon with marinade on all sides (except skin side).
  • Place salmon skin side down directly on air fryer basket.
  • Cook for 7-8 minutes, or until salmon reaches internal temperature of 145 degrees F.
  • Preheat air fryer to 390 degrees F.
  • Place frozen salmon skin side down directly on air fryer basket and cook for 7 minutes, or until defrosted.
  • Meanwhile, in a small bowl, whisk together olive oil, lemon juice, garlic, mustard, salt and pepper until combined.
  • Brush marinade all over defrosted salmon (except skin side).
  • Cook again for another 7-9 minutes, or until salmon reaches internal temperature of 145 degrees F.

¼ cup Dijon mustard
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons minced garlic
¾ teaspoon kosher salt
½ teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
½ teaspoon freeze-dried dill
2 (12 ounce) skin on frozen salmon fillets

Steps:

  • Preheat the air fryer to 390 degrees F (199 degrees C).
  • Whisk mustard, brown sugar, garlic, salt, pepper, and dill together in a small bowl. Set aside.
  • Place salmon, flesh-side down, in the basket of the air fryer. Cook for 6 minutes. Flip salmon over and brush 1/4 of the sauce on top of each fillet. Cook for 6 more minutes.
  • Brush remaining sauce over the fillets and cook until salmon easily flakes with a fork, 3 to 4 more minutes

This method for Air Fryer Salmon shows you exactly how to cook a frozen salmon fillet in your air fryer or Ninja Foodi in just 15 minutes or less. There's no excuse for getting healthy food on the table quickly when using this way to air fry frozen fish.

2 6 oz Salmon (filets, frozen)
1 tsp Avocado Oil
Salt & Pepper (to taste)

Steps:

  • Prepare your air fryer. For this method, I not only preheat my air fryer to 400F, but I also lightly grease the air fryer basket with avocado oil. This helps keep the salmon from sticking as it thaws and then cooks.
  • Air fry the salmon filet. Place frozen salmon filets at the bottom of the air fryer basket and set the timer for 15 minutes. Halfway through, take a spatula and get under the salmon to release it and flip over.
  • Season the salmon. After it's flipped, brush with a small amount of avocado oil, then add salt and pepper. Let it cook for 5-7 minutes more or until salmon is completely cooked through.
  • Remove and serve. Remove the cooked salmon using tongs or a spatula. Add a squeeze of lemon juice and serve hot with your favorite side dish.

How to Cook Frozen Salmon in the Air Fryer image

If you have a craving for salmon but don't have time to thaw it out, this is the recipe for you. It will take you only minutes to cook this tender and flaky salmon.

2 frozen salmon fillets
1/2 teaspoon olive oil
1/2 lemon (thinly sliced)

Steps:

  • Preheat your air fryer to 390°F according to the manufacturer's instructions.
  • Remove any excess ice from your salmon fillets. Place the frozen fillets directly in your air fryer basket. (If your salmon still has the skin on, place it in the basket skin-side down.)
  • Cook the frozen salmon for 7 minutes.
  • Brush the salmon with olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Lay the lemon sliced over the fillets.
  • Return the salmon to the air fryer and cook another 3-7 minutes, or until the salmon is cooked to your liking. The cooking time will depend on the thickness of your salmon and your prefered level of doneness. The salmon is ready whn it reaches an internal temperature of 135°F and flakes easily when scraped with a fork. For the salmon pictured above, I cooked for 3 minutes. For thicker fillets I set the timer for 5 minutes.

Salmon fillets cook beautifully in an air fryer and make a delicious meal when coated in a herb seasoning and served with greens and grains

1 tsp salt
1 tsp pepper
1 tsp mixed herbs
1 tsp garlic granules (optional)
4 salmon fillets (we used 4 x 130g fillets), skin on or removed
½ tbsp olive oil
cooked seasonal greens and grains such as quinoa or brown rice, to serve (optional)

Steps:

  • Combine the salt, pepper, mixed herbs and garlic granules, if using, in a bowl, then scatter onto a plate. Rub each salmon fillet with a little olive oil and roll in the seasoning to coat.
  • Put in the air fryer basket in one layer and cook at 180C for 8-10 mins, until cooked through. If you have larger salmon fillets they will need to be cooked for longer - keep checking after 10 mins and cook in 1-2 min blasts, until ready. Serve with greens and quinoa or rice, if you like.
