AIR FRYER CHICKEN WINGS

Air Fryer Chicken Wings image

How to make PERFECT Air Fryer Chicken Wings. Crispy outside, juicy and tender inside, with easy clean up. The best way to cook chicken wings!

Provided by Erin Clarke / Well Plated

Categories     Appetizer

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 10

1 1/2 pounds chicken wings
1 teaspoon kosher salt
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/4 cup hot sauce (Frank's RedHot is what I use)
1 tablespoon minced garlic
1/2 tablespoon white vinegar
Nonstick cooking spray
Blue cheese sauce
Celery sticks
Chopped fresh chives (optional for color)

Steps:

  • Coat the basket of a 3 quart or larger air fryer with nonstick spray.
  • Trim off the wing tips (you should be able to feel the joint soft spot). It should separate fairly easily, but if not, put the blade in place, then carefully but firmly hit the top of your knife to apply extra pressure. Discard. Next, split the drumette side of each wing from the flat side at the joint: slice down through the skin feeling for the "soft spot" and wiggle your knife as needed.
  • Pat the wings very dry. Sprinkle all over with salt.
  • Place the wings in the air fryer in a single layer, making sure they do not touch (if needed, stand up the drumettes along the side). Set the air fryer to 360 degrees F. Cook the wings for 12 minutes, then remove the basket and with tongs, flip the wings over. Return to the air fryer at 360 degrees for 12 additional minutes.
  • Slide out the basket, flip the wings once more, then return them to the air fryer. Increase the air fryer temperature to 390 degrees F. Cook the wings for 6 minutes, flipping once more halfway through. The skin should look nice and crisp (if your wings are on the larger side, they may need a few more minutes).
  • While the wings finish up, melt the butter in a large microwave safe bowl in the microwave or a saucepan on the stove. Stir in the hot sauce, garlic, and vinegar until smooth.
  • Transfer the wings to the bowl with the hot sauce mixture. Toss to throughly coat the wings. Transfer the wings to a serving plate. Sprinkle with chives as desired. Enjoy warm with blue cheese sauce and celery.

HOW TO COOK CHICKEN WINGS

How to Cook Chicken Wings image

Chicken wings are a truly versatile dish that can be prepared using a wide variety of different sauces and different cooking methods. You can use a commercial wing sauce, if desired, but this article will provide a few different homemade...

Provided by wikiHow

Categories     Chicken

Number Of Ingredients 3

Makes 2 to 6 servings
2 lb (900 g) chicken wings (about 10 whole wings)
Wing sauce (see below)

Steps:

  • Use your favorite wing sauce. You can use a bottle of your favorite commercial wing sauce, or you can make a homemade wing sauce. Note the wing sauce recipes provided.
  • Prepare a buffalo wing sauce. This sauce needs to simmer on the stove for 2 hours before use. Melt the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat. Carefully add the tomato sauce, hot sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Stir well to mix. More hot sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder can be added if desired. Simmer uncovered, on low heat, for two hours. Stir occasionally.
  • Make your own barbecue sauce. This sauce is ready to use after simmering for a little over an hour. Combine all sauce ingredients in a medium saucepan. Stir well to mix. Heat the sauce over medium-high heat until it boils. Reduce the heat to low or medium-low so that the sauce continues cooking at a low simmer. Cook, uncovered, for 75 minutes. Stir frequently to prevent the sauce from burning.
  • Mix together a sweet and sour orange glaze. This glaze can be prepared without the use of a stove. Whisk all of the glaze ingredients together in a medium bowl. Refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Whisk together a honey mustard sauce. This is another sauce that can be prepared without heating the ingredients. Whisk together all of the sauce ingredients in a small to medium bowl until well combined. Refrigerate until ready to use.

BAKED CHICKEN WINGS - EXTRA CRISPY, LIKE DEEP-FRIED

Baked Chicken Wings - Extra Crispy, Like Deep-Fried image

A recipe for the best baked chicken wings that are extra crispy on the outside and very tender and most on the inside.

Provided by Victor

Categories     Dinner     lunch

Time 35m

Number Of Ingredients 5

2 lbs chicken wings ((tips removed, separated into wingettes and drumettes))
1 Tbsp BAKING POWDER ((whatever you do, do NOT use baking soda))
1 tsp kosher salt ((plus more to taste))
1 Tbsp butter ((melted))
1/3 cup hot wing sauce ((e.g. Duff's hot sauce))

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 450F.
  • Dry chicken with a paper towel really well. Place the wings in a large bowl. Sprinkle baking powder over the wings. Toss until all wings are evenly covered in baking powder. Better yet, mix by hand to ensure even coverage.
  • Line a large baking sheet with aluminum foil. Place a cooling rack (see note) on top and spray with Pam or rub with cooking oil to prevent sticking.
  • Lay the chicken wings on the rack, leaving space between the wings.
  • Place the baking sheet in the oven. Turn the heat down to 425F and set the mode to convection.
  • Bake for 30-40 minutes, until the wings are nicely browned and crisp.
  • Let the wings rest for 5 minutes. This will preserve crispiness of the skin.
  • Meanwhile, prepare the Buffalo wing sauce by combining the butter and the hot wing sauce in a small bowl.
  • Season the wings with salt and whatever other seasonings you like. Toss with the Buffalo sauce or serve with the sauce on the side.

  • Use tongs to carefully lower the 8 wing pieces into the oil. The oil temperature may drop when the wings are added. Try to keep oil at 350-375°F. If it drops too low, increase heat.
