HOGS AND KISSES

Steps:

• Cut bacon in half. Place the bacon in a large, deep skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate.
• Melt the chocolate in a microwave-safe glass or ceramic bowl in 30 second intervals, stirring after each melting, for 1 to 3 minutes (depending on your microwave). Do not overheat or chocolate will scorch. Dip all but the last inch of each strip of bacon in the melted chocolate. Place bacon on waxed paper and allow to cool and harden before serving.

Steps:

• Heat oven to 400°F. Stir Bisquick mix, milk, 2 tablespoons sugar and the egg in medium bowl until soft dough forms. Place dough on surface generously dusted with Bisquick mix; gently roll in Bisquick mix to coat. Shape into a ball; knead 5 times.
• Roll or pat dough into 6 1/2-inch square, 1/2 inch thick. Cut dough into 12 strips. Shape 6 strips into circles to make O shapes; pinch ends to secure. Cut remaining 6 strips crosswise in half; crisscross pairs of strips to make X shapes. (Or use X- and O-shaped cookie cutters dipped in Bisquick mix.) Place hugs and kisses on ungreased cookie sheet.
• Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until light brown. Immediately brush with melted butter and sprinkle with granulated sugar. Serve warm.

CHOCOLATE HUGS AND KISSES COOKIES

Steps:

• Sift together flour, cocoa, salt, and cinnamon into a bowl. With an electric mixer, beat butter and confectioners' sugar on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in egg and vanilla. Reduce speed to low. Gradually mix in flour mixture. Wrap dough in plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour.
• Preheat oven to 350 degrees. On a lightly floured work surface, roll out dough to 1/8 inch thick. Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Freeze 15 minutes.
• Using a 2- or 3-inch X- or O-shaped cookie cutter, quickly cut out shapes from dough (if dough begins to soften, return to freezer for 3 to 5 minutes). Reroll scraps once and cut out more shapes.
• Transfer shapes to baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Freeze until firm, about 15 minutes. Brush flour from shapes. Sprinkle with sanding sugar. Bake until crisp, rotating sheets halfway through, about 8 minutes. Let cool completely on sheets on wire racks. Cookies can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.

Steps:

• Heat oven to 350 F. Grease and line bottoms of two 9-inch heart-shaped baking pans with wax paper.* Remove wrappers from 24 Hugs and 24 Kisses; chop into 1/4-inch pieces.
• Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in large bowl until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Stir together flour, baking powder and salt. Add flour mixture alternately with milk to butter mixture, beating well after each addition. Stir in chopped chocolate. Pour batter into prepared pans.
• Bake 25 to 30 minutes or until wooden pick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes in pans on wire racks. Remove from pans; cool completely .
• Place chocolate chips and shortening in small microwave-safe bowl. Microwave at HIGH (100%) 30 seconds to 1 minute or until chocolate is melted when stirred. Trace 5-inch heart shape on paper; place wax paper over top. Place melted chip mixture in bottom of sturdy seal-top plastic bag; using scissors, snip off small corner at bottom. Pipe melted chocolate over heart; refrigerate until firm.
• Prepare Whipped Cream Frosting: Place 1 tablespoon cold water in small cup; sprinkle 1 teaspoon unflavored gelatin over top. Let stand several minutes to soften. Stir in 2 tablespoons boiling water until gelatin is completely dissolved and mixture is clear. Beat 2 cups (1 pt.) cold whipping cream and 1/3 cup powdered sugar in large bowl until stiff. Pour in gelatin mixture; beat until well blended and thickened. Stir in 5 drops red food color, if desired.
• Reserve 1 cup of frosting; set aside. Frost between layers, sides and top of cake. Place reserved frosting in sturdy seal-top plastic bag with star tip; pipe rosettes along top of cake. Unwrap 17 Hugs; place on top of rosettes. Unwrap 32 Kisses; place along bottom edge of cake. Remove chocolate heart from wax paper; place in center of cake. Cover and refrigerate cake.

Steps:

• Sift flour, salt, and baking powder together into a bowl. With an electric mixer, beat butter and granulated sugar on medium-high speed until pale and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Mix in egg and vanilla. Reduce speed to low; gradually mix in flour mixture. Wrap dough in plastic wrap. Chill 1 hour.
• Preheat oven to 325 degrees. Let dough stand at room temperature 10 minutes. Generously flour a large sheet of parchment. Roll out dough on parchment to a scant 1/4-inch thickness, running an offset spatula under dough and dusting with flour as necessary to prevent sticking. Transfer dough on parchment to freezer, and chill 15 minutes.
• Using a 2- to 3-inch X- or O-shaped cookie cutter, quickly cut out shapes from dough. (If dough begins to soften, return to freezer for 3 to 5 minutes.) Reroll scraps once and cut out more shapes.
• Transfer shapes to parchment-lined baking sheets, spacing them 2 inches apart. Freeze 15 minutes. Sprinkle shapes with sanding sugar. Bake until edges are just golden, 15 to 18 minutes. Let cool completely on sheets on wire racks.

HUGS 'N' KISSES COOKIES

Steps:

• Cut cookie dough into 1/4-in. slices. On a floured surface, roll each slice into a 6-in. rope. Cut half of the ropes in half widthwise. Form into X's on ungreased baking sheets; seal edges and flatten slightly. Shape remaining ropes into O's on ungreased baking sheets; seal the edges and flatten slightly. Sprinkle with sugar if desired. Bake at 350° for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly browned. Cool for 3 minute; remove from pans to wire racks to cool completely.

HUGS & CHIPS CHEESECAKE

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 350. With mixer, beat cheese until fluffy. Gradually beat in milk until smooth. Add egg and vanilla; mix well.
• Toss chips with flour, stir into cheese mixture. Pour into crust.
• Bake 35 minutes or until center springs back when lightly touched. Cool and top with glaze and curls. Serve chilled. Refrigerate leftovers.
• Chocolate Glaze.
• Melt 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips with 1/4 cup whipping cream; cook and stir until thickened & smooth. Immediately spread over pie.
