HOT DOG NIGHT
Hot dog night was date night for my parents. When I saw the package of Oscar Mayer hot dogs on the counter I knew the babysitter would be there soon. Greasy food photographs so well! I like how the bacon looks in these photos.

Steps:
- 1. Form assembly line of hot dogs sliced lenghtwise, the 1/2 inch cheddar cheese strips and last the bacon strips.
- 2. Open each hot dog, put slices of cheese in the slit. If using the onion strips place them over the cheese. Wrap each end of the hot dog, fanning out the bacon so it can be crisp all the way through. Toothpicks can be used to secure the bacon but soak them first in water for ten minutes so they don't burn.
- 3. Broil for two minutes cheese/onion side down. Then carefully turn over and cook top of hot dog for 2-3 more minutes. I have also done this recipe in a cast iron skillet.
- 4. Put in a bun, or not, and serve with the side dishes of your choice.

Steps:
- Prepare your child's lunch box by packing the hot dog bun, ketchup, mustard and Cheddar cheese.
- Preheat your child's insulated beverage container by filling with boiling water. Let stand for 15 to 20 minutes. I put the kettle on when I get up and let it heat while the kids get ready for school. Right before they leave, dump out that water and replace with more boiling water. The preheating keeps it hot for a longer time. Place a hot dog into the water and close the lid.
- When your child is ready for lunch, they can take the hot hot dog out of the container and place it on the bun. Top with ketchup, mustard and cheese to make a hot lunch from home.
