1 lb bulk pork sausage
1/4 cup chopped onion
2 1/2 cups frozen hash brown potatoes (cubed)
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1 3/4 cups milk
4 eggs
1 cup Bisquick
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
1/4 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400 degrees and grease a 10 inch pie plate.
  • Cook sausage and onion until sausage is fully cooked; drain.
  • Mix sausage, potatoes and 1 cup cheddar cheese in pie plate.
  • Combine remaining ingredients except the 1/4 cup cheese and pour into pie plate with the sausage and potato mixture.
  • Bake about 40 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean.
  • Sprinkle with remaining 1/4 cup cheese and bake an additional 2 minutes or until cheese melts.

Received this recently from a friend and this will be my new recipe for this type dish.I made it for breakfast this morning and it is a keeper. While I have always put a variety of meats and/or vegetables in my impossible pies, this has a lot of vatiations I would not have thought of.

1 1/2 cups milk
3/4 cup Bisquick
3 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper
2 cups milk
1 cup Bisquick
4 eggs
1/2 teaspoon salt
pepper
1/2-1 cup chopped cooked meat, approximately
3/4-1 cup cheese, shredded
3/4-1 cup vegetables, cooked and chopped or 3/4-1 cup vegetables, raw, chopped

Steps:

  • Choose the base ingredients based on the size of the pie pan you are using.
  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Grease desired size pie pan.
  • Sprinkle meat, cheese and vegetables, if using, into pan.
  • Beat base ingredients until smooth, 14 to 30 seconds in a blender; or 1 minute on high with a hand beater; or 2 minutes by hand.
  • Pour batter into pan, covering filling ingredients.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes, or until a knife inserted in center comes out clean, and top is golden brown.
  • Cool 5 minutes before serving.

  • Chicken, broccoli, jack cheese, onion -- ham, mushrooms, Swiss cheese --.

  • whole green chiles stuffed with cubes of cheese (rellenos casserole) --
  • roast beef, onion, green or red peppers, any cheese (the Philly) --
  • spinach, feta cheese, black olives, diced tomato (the Greek).
  • NOTES:.
  • Use any raw or leftover cooked vegetables, chopped into uniform sizes.
  • Carrots and potatoes must be cooked.
  • Slice or chop raw veggies smaller than cooked.
  • Thawed frozen spinach (squeezed dry) and frozen broccoli work well.
  • Add herbs/spices as desired.
  • Try all veggie or all cheese pies.
  • Add mustard, horseradish, hot sauce, BBQ sauce, etc. to base in small amounts (about 1 tablespoon) if it seems appropriate.

1 small bell pepper, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 medium onion, chopped (1/2 cup)
1 1/2 cups frozen shredded hash brown potatoes
1 cup shredded Cheddar cheese (4 oz)
1/2 cup Original Bisquick™ mix
1 cup milk
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 eggs

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 400°F. Spray 9-inch glass pie plate with cooking spray.
  • In 10-inch skillet, cook sausage, bell pepper and onion over medium heat 8 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until sausage is no longer pink; drain. Mix sausage mixture, potatoes and 1/2 cup of the cheese. Spread in pie plate.
  • In medium bowl, stir Bisquick mix, milk, pepper and eggs until blended. Pour into pie plate.
  • Bake 30 to 35 minutes or until knife inserted in center comes out clean. Sprinkle with remaining 1/2 cup cheese; bake 1 to 2 minutes longer or just until cheese is melted. Let stand 5 minutes before serving.

This is a double recipe that bakes in a 9 x 13-inch baking dish if you're having company. Cut recipe in half to bake in a pie plate and serve 4-6 (see note). Recipe is from Betty Crocker.

1 pepper, chopped
1 medium onion, chopped
3 cups frozen hash brown potatoes
2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
1 cup original Bisquick baking mix
2 cups milk
1/4 teaspoon pepper
4 eggs

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Grease a 9 x 13 baking dish.

My grandmother used to make this almost every Sunday. Even the grandkids that didn't like their green veggies loved her brunch pie. I've also tried substituting the broccoli and spinach with cooked asparagus spears and it was delicious.

1 pkg (10 oz) frozen chopped broccoli or chopped spinch
1 c sour cream
1 c creamed cottage cheese
1/2 c Bisquick baking mix
1/4 c butter, melted
2 eggs
1 tomato, peeled and thinly sliced
1/2 c grated parmesan cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Heat oven to 350.
  • 2. Grease pie plate.
  • 3. Spread broccoli or spinach in plate.
  • 4. Beat sour cream, cottage cheese, bisquick mix, butter and eggs until smooth approximately 15 seconds in blender on high or 1 minute with a beater.
  • 5. Pour into pie plate.
  • 6. Top with tomatoes; sprinkle with parmesan cheese.
  • 7. Bake until knife inserted between center and edge comes out clean.
  • 8. Cool 5 minutes before serving.
