This is my mom's delicious version of Sweet Potato Casserole. You'll find no marshmallows here!

2 cups cooked, mashed sweet potatoes
1 cup white sugar
½ cup melted butter
⅓ cup milk
2 eggs, beaten
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
½ cup brown sugar
¼ cup all purpose flour
2 ½ tablespoons butter at room temperature
½ cup chopped pecans

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 2-quart baking dish, and set aside.
  • Mix together the sweet potatoes, white sugar, 1/2 cup melted butter, milk, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
  • In another bowl, stir together the brown sugar, flour, 2 1/2 tablespoons of butter, and the pecans.
  • Spoon the sweet potato mixture into the greased baking dish, spread the pecan mixture evenly over the top, and bake in the preheated oven until the topping is browned and bubbling, about 25 minutes.

1/2 cup sugar
2 beaten eggs
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1/2 cup milk
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 cup brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1 cup chopped pecans
1/3 cup margarine, melted

Steps:

  • In large mixing bowl,mix sweet potatoes,sugar,eggs,margarine,milk and vanilla.
  • Pour into 9 inch square greased baking dish.
  • Mix topping ingredients and sprinkle over potatoes.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes .
  • Can be doubled and baked in 9x13 dish.
