3 lb canned ham
1/4 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup white sugar
1 1/2 cups pineapple juice
1 cup maraschino cherries
1 can(20 oz) pineapple chunks
2 tablespoons pancake syrup
Handful of cloves
1/8 tsp ground cloves
1/8 tsp ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 pinch of salt

Pineapple Ham (Jamon con Pina) Recipe - (4.1/5) image

1 canned ham, about 2 pounds
1 bay leaf
1 can (16 ounce) pineapple slices
1 cup red cooking wine
5 oranges, juiced
1/2 can beer
Marachino cherries
2 cups pineapple juice
Whole cloves
1 pound dark sugar
1 cup dark sugar

Steps:

  • Heat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit. Meanwhile, If canned ham has gelatin, scrape it off with the back of a knife. Fill a large pot with enough water to cover the ham, add the orange juice, bay leaf and put to boil on high heat. Once water boils, add the ham and continue to boil for 10 minutes. Turn off stove, remove ham and put in glass or metal baking pan. Throw out the water. In a bowl, mix together the beer, wine, pineapple juice, 1 pound dark sugar and pour over the ham. With a sharp knife, make 1 inch diagonal lines to make diamond shapes all around ham. Put a cloves in between each diamond. Put ham in preheated oven for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Remove ham and decorate with pineapple slices and cherries. (attach with wooden toothpicks.) Sprinkle ham all around with remaining brown sugar and put back in oven for another 10 or 15 minutes, until brown sugar melts and looks shiny and glazed.

1 (12 pound) bone-in ham
½ cup whole cloves
1 (20 ounce) can pineapple rings in heavy syrup
½ cup packed brown sugar
1 (12 fluid ounce) can or bottle lemon-lime flavored carbonated beverage
1 (4 ounce) jar chopped maraschino cherries

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 325 degrees F (160 degrees C).
  • Place ham in a roasting pan. Score the rind of the ham with a diamond pattern. Press a clove into the center of each diamond. Drain the juice from the pineapple rings into a medium bowl, and stir in the brown sugar and lemon-lime soda. Coat the ham with this mixture. Arrange the pineapple rings over the outside of the ham. Place a maraschino cherry in the center of each pineapple ring, and secure with a toothpick.
  • Bake uncovered for 4 to 5 hours, basting frequently with the juices, until the internal temperature of the ham is 160 degrees F (72 degrees C). Be sure the meat thermometer is not touching the bone. Remove toothpicks before serving.

This ham is to die for. Sounds to difficult to make but it is very simple. I serve this dish during Easter or Christmas, or whenever I'm in the mood for ham. The flavors of the Dijon mustard and the brown sugar are intensified with the orange rum. Igniting rum will help glaze the ham and melt any remaining sugar, plus it looks cool, too.

1 (5 pound) bone-in fully-cooked ham
⅓ cup Dijon mustard
¾ cup brown sugar
1 (15 ounce) can pineapple slices, undrained
10 whole cloves, or as needed
4 fluid ounces orange-flavored rum (such as Bacardi O®), divided
2 tablespoons cornstarch, or as needed
¼ cup water

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 300 degrees F (150 degrees C).
  • Place ham into a roasting pan. Spread Dijon mustard over top and sides of ham in an even coat; sprinkle ham with brown sugar. Press brown sugar onto ham with your hands. Place pineapple slices onto ham, securing them to the top and sides with cloves. Place any unused pineapple slices into bottom of roasting pan and pour pineapple juice and half the orange-flavored rum.
  • Bake in the preheated oven until ham is heated through and brown sugar has begun to glaze onto the meat, about 1 hour. Remove ham from oven and pour remaining 2 fluid ounces of orange rum over the ham; carefully light the rum on fire with a match. The flames will help the glaze to adhere to the meat.
  • Continue baking until an instant-read meat thermometer inserted into the thickest part of the ham, not touching bone, reads at least 140 degrees F (60 degrees C), about 1 more hour. Let ham rest for 10 minutes before serving. Transfer ham to a serving platter, leaving pan drippings in roasting pan.
  • Stir cornstarch and water together in a small bowl until smooth; whisk cornstarch into pan drippings. Place roasting pan over medium-low heat and whisk until pan juices thicken, about 5 minutes. Serve with ham.
