LAZY MAN'S BARBECUE PORK SANDWICHES

Make extra sauce to serve on the side or for ribs and chops. Serve with potato salad and any other family picnic favorites.

1 (5 pound) boneless pork butt (shoulder)
1 (14.5 ounce) can beef broth
⅓ cup hot pepper sauce
⅓ cup Worcestershire sauce
½ cup ketchup
½ cup molasses
¼ cup Worcestershire sauce
¼ cup yellow mustard
2 tablespoons hot pepper sauce
12 roll (blank)s hamburger buns

Steps:

  • Place pork butt in bottom of large slow cooker. Combine broth, hot pepper sauce and Worcestershire sauce, and pour over pork. Cover and cook on high setting for 5 hours (or 8 -10 hours on low setting) until pork is very tender. Meanwhile, for sauce, combine all ingredients in large saucepan; set aside.
  • Place pork on cutting board; reserve 1/2 cup cooking liquid. Coarsely chop pork; combine with reserved cooking liquid and sauce in saucepan; heat over medium heat until warm. Spoon pork onto sandwich buns to serve.

2-1/2 pounds pork baby back ribs, cut into 8 pieces
2 teaspoons Cajun seasoning
1 medium onion, sliced
1 cup ketchup
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
1/3 cup orange juice
1/3 cup cider vinegar
1/4 cup molasses
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon barbecue sauce
1 teaspoon stone-ground mustard
1 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke, optional
Dash salt
5 teaspoons cornstarch
1 tablespoon cold water

Steps:

  • Rub ribs with Cajun seasoning. Layer ribs and onion in a 5-qt. slow cooker. In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, orange juice, vinegar, molasses, Worcestershire sauce, barbecue sauce, mustard, paprika, garlic powder, liquid smoke if desired, and salt. Pour over ribs. Cover and cook on low until meat is tender, 5-6 hours. , Remove ribs and keep warm. Strain cooking juices and skim fat; transfer to a small saucepan. Combine cornstarch and water until smooth; stir into juices. Bring to a boil; cook and stir until thickened, 2 minutes. Serve with ribs.

  • Cover and cook on HIGH for 5 hours or 8-10 on LOW until pork is very tender.
  • Place pork on cutting board; reserve 1/2 cup cooking liquid. Chop pork or shred with 2 forks; combine with cooking liquid and BBQ sauce in medium heat until warm.
  • Spoon pork onto sandwich buns to serve.
