Hawaii Island designer Manaola Yap uses his hula and Hawaiian culture background as his foundation in creating his fashion designs and we were lucky enough to have him join us in the Cooking Hawaiian Style kitchen to showcase his lessor known culinary talent.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 cups all purpose flour
1/2 cup white or light brown sugar
1 tsp salt
1 ½ cup water Coconut oil spray to coat pan
1 tsp Butter Vanilla ice cream ((1 scoop) )
Cinnamon sugar ((1 tsp cinnamon and 2 tsp white sugar mixed))

Steps:

  • Add flour, sugar and salt to a large bowl and whisk.
  • Slowly add water to the dry ingredients while mixing.
  • Add water until mixture is a gravy-like consistency.
  • Heat your pan to a medium heat, grease with coconut oil spray spoon in your pancake mixture and fry.
  • Butter the pancake then roll and cut in half.
  • Top with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and sprinkle on the cinnamon sugar mixture.

Ikaika Blackburn was born and raised in Maui where he lives today with his wife and children. He is widely known for being a member of the Nā Hoku Hanohano award wining trio Na Hoa, but in his community he is better known as one of their front line heroes, working for the Maui Fire Department since 2005.We were excited to welcome Ikaika into the Cooking Hawaiian Style Kitchen as he shares Linalina Pancakes recipe and stories of cooking at the firehouse.

2 cups AP Flour
3 cups Water
4 Tbsps. Honey
Oil to coat pan
1 can Sweetened Condensed Milk
To taste Nutella
Pancake syrup
Peanut Butter
Chocolate syrup

Steps:

  • Mix flour, water and honey to a loose consistency.
  • Heat pan and oil.
  • Pour ladle of mixture in pan until brown.
  • Flip when brown on 2nd side.
  • Remove from pan.
  • Top with your favorite toppings
