This is my friend Jennifer's recipe that she uses a lot for any function that requires food. Everyone loves these so much that I asked for the recipe. The key to making these taste so good is to cook them so the cheese melts but the rolls do not get toasted. These are also good using roast beef and Havarti cheese.

cooking spray
12 brown and serve dinner rolls
¼ cup honey mustard dressing
¼ cup butter, melted
3 slices Swiss cheese, cut into quarters
6 slices fully cook ham, halved
1 tablespoon sesame seeds, or more if desired

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray.
  • Slice each roll almost all the way through, but keeping the top attached. Arrange rolls on prepared baking sheet.
  • Stir honey mustard dressing into melted butter until well blended.
  • Brush butter mixture inside each roll using a pastry brush, making sure to get the top and bottom.
  • Place a layer of Swiss cheese and ham into each roll.
  • Close each roll and brush the top with butter mixture. Sprinkle the top of each roll with sesame seeds.
  • Bake rolls in the preheated oven until cheese has melted, 5 to 6 minutes.

2 tablespoons dried minced onion
1 tablespoon prepared mustard
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
½ cup margarine, melted
24 dinner rolls
½ pound chopped ham
½ pound thinly sliced Swiss cheese

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 325 degrees F (165 degrees C).
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine onion flakes, mustard, poppy seeds and margarine.
  • Split each dinner roll. Make a sandwich of the ham and cheese and the dinner rolls. Arrange the sandwiches on a baking sheet. Drizzle the poppy seed mixture over the sandwiches.
  • Bake for 20 minutes, or until cheese has melted. Serve these sandwiches warm.

2 packages party or dinner rolls
1/2 lb boiled ham
1/2 lb baby Swiss cheese
2 tablespoons minced onion flakes
1 tablespoons yellow mustard
2 tablespoons poppy seeds
1 stick of melted margarine

Steps:

  • Make sandwiches (adding ham and cheese to each split roll). Keep rolls on an aluminum baking sheet.
  • In a bowl, mix onion flakes, mustard, poppy seeds, and margarine together. Drizzle mixture over sandwiches.
  • Cover trays with tin foil. Bake at 325°F for 20 minutes. When cheese has melted remove rolls from tray and serve warm.

These are mini sandwiches made on sweet Hawaiian rolls containing ham and cheese. They are oven baked and easy to make. Definitely a crowd pleaser with all ages. You can adjust your ham and cheese to your liking. As written they make very hearty sandwiches. You fill up quickly. If you like your sandwiches lighter you could easily spread the pound of meat and cheese over 24 rolls instead of 12. Likewise adjust the butter to your taste. If you like a lot use the one stick and if you like less use half a stick. These can be made with roast beef or turkey too and american or cheddar cheese also. These were a hit at our house. 1 lb deli ham (shaved or thinly sliced)
1 lb swiss cheese (thinly sliced)
1/2 cup butter
1 1/2 tablespoons Dijon mustard (or gourmet deli mustard)
1 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 1/2 teaspoons minced onions, dried
king's hawaiian original hawaiian sweet dinner roll (12 pack)

Steps:

  • Melt butter and mix in mustard, sauce and onion.
  • Cut the entire pack of rolls in half, horizontally (keeping all top and bottom halves separately in tact).
  • In a 9x13 inch pan, place bottom half of rolls and cover with ham and cheese.
  • Cover ham and cheese stacks with top half of rolls.
  • Drizzle butter mixture over top of rolls, making sure onion is evenly distributed.
  • Refrigerate over night. Or bake right away.
  • Bake uncovered at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes and, once finished, separate for serving.
  • *you can mix up the meats (roast beef or turkey) and cheeses (cheddar or american) to create your own combinations*.

2 sticks margarine
2 tablespoons worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons mustard
2 units dinner rolls
1 units ham
1 units cheddar cheese

Steps:

  • 1. Preheat oven to 350.
  • 2. Saute onion in butter.
  • 3. Add Worcestershire sauce and mustard. Stir until thoroughly heated.
  • 4. Slice rolls in half, giving a top and bottom layer. Place bottom half back in original pan. Layer with ham, cheese, and sauce. Put top half of rolls on top of ham, cheese, and sauce.
  • 5. Cover with foil and bake at 350 for 20 minutes.

When I was in the pageants, there were parties for everything. My Director lives in a multi million dollar estate but down to earth. She and my Assistant Director made (with some outside help) a zillion appetizers. One was this Mini Ham and Cheese rolls. They were yummy. Wrap in foil and re warm in oven on a very low temperature. These would be great to serve at the Super bowl Party. No one will complain.

24 - browned, dinner rolls
2 tablespoon(s) dried, minced oion
2 tablespoon(s) prepared mustard
2 tablespoon(s) poppy seeds
1/2 cup(s) butter, melted
1/2 pound(s) very thin chopped ham slices, small slices
1/2 pound(s) thinly sliced swiss cheese
1/8 teaspoon(s) ground dill, optional
1/8 teaspoon(s) ground parsley flakes, optional

Steps:

  • Pre heat oven to 325 degrees F
  • In a small mixing bowl, combine onion flakes,mustard, poppy seed, parsley and dill with melted butter.
  • Split each dinner roll. brush one side with the butter mixture and place a piece of ham and swiss cheese, replace top like a sandwich. Do all 24 and place them on a cookie sheet. Drizzle rest of butter mixture across top of rolls.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until the cheese has melted. Serve warm.
