MOCK CHERRY DILLS
Another recipe from Lisa, one of my favorite young gals to be around! (But then everything is relative.) She says these are easy and great if you like your pickle a tad sweet. And the Milwaukee dill pickle is really good! Notice how you make and refrigerate for 6 DAYS before you can eat them.

Steps:
- Drain liquid from pickle jar, but RESERVE 1 cup of that liquid.
- Wash the pickle jar and lid so you can reuse it later in recipe.
- Put that 1 cup of reserved pickle juice into saucepan, add the sugar and white vinegar.
- Bring to a boil over medium heat stirring until the sugar is dissolved (about 2 minutes).
- Put cloves and cinnamon stick back into same pickle jar you washed.
- Add pickle chunks and sauce pan of liquid.
- Put lid onto jar.
- Refrigerate 6 days and enjoy!

Here in New England, where cranberries are more plentiful (and less expensive) than cherries, my dear sister-in-law would make this pie every year. We lost her a few years ago, but will always remember her warm and loving personality through her recipes.

Steps:
- Put cranberries and raisins into a blender and chop up together.
- Sift flour and sugar together and add to fruit mixture.
- Add water and vanilla.
- Pour into an unbaked pie crust.
- Top with crust and cut slits for steam to escape.
- Bake at 425 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes.
- 5 minutes before it is done, brush with milk and sprinkle with sugar.
- Chill.
- (The taste is better when it is cold).

Mock Cherry Pie is a New England tradition. My father and I attended a dinner party on Cape Cod one year and this pie was served. We have been looking for the recipe ever since and just found it. Now I am giving it to you!

Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450 degrees F (230 degrees C).
- In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the cranberries, raisins, sugar, water and flour. Cook until cranberries open and mixture thickens. Allow to cool and stir in butter and vanilla.
- Pour into prepared pie crust and cover with top crust.
- Cut slits in top crust and bake for 10 minutes. Lower heat to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C) and bake for 35 minutes longer or until crust is golden brown.
