"Paprika adds both color and flavor to this aromatic onion bread that's delicious spread with cream cheese," writes Jackie Robbins of Flint, Michigan. "My family likes it served with goulash."

Number Of Ingredients 8

1 cup water (70° to 80°)
2 tablespoons butter, softened
1/3 cup finely chopped onion
1-1/2 teaspoons salt
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon paprika
3 cups bread flour
1 package (1/4 ounce) active dry yeast

Steps:

  • In bread machine pan, place all ingredients in order suggested by manufacturer. Select basic bread setting. Choose crust color and loaf size if available. Bake according to bread machine directions (check dough after 5 minutes of mixing; add 1 to 2 tablespoons water or flour if needed).

I got this recipe from a Master Cook site. I thought it would make a great bread for sandwiches. I did substitue 1 Tablespoon of oilve oil for butter and increased the onions and garlic powder to meet our tastes.

3 tablespoons nonfat dry milk powder
1 tablespoon sugar
1 1/2 teaspoons instant minced onion
3/4 teaspoon fresh ground black pepper (medium coasrse groun)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
2 teaspoons bread machine yeast

Steps:

  • Add ingredients in order given by manufacturer.
  • Basic/white bread setting.
  • Medium/normal color setting.
  • NOTE: If using finer grind of pepper, reduce amount to 1/4 tsp for either size loaf.
