PAULA DEEN CROCK POT MACARONI AND CHEESE
I saw Paula Deen make this recipe on her Food Network program. I was looking for a really creamy macaroni and cheese recipe, and this is it! I changed it a bit by omitting the eggs (the original recipe calls for three) and boiling the macaroni for six minutes instead of seven, so it doesn't get mushy while cooking in the Crockpot. I also shortened the cooking time from three to two and a half hours. Perfection!

- Boil the macaroni in water for six minutes. Drain.
- In a medium saucepan, mix butter and cheese. Stir until the cheese melts.
- In slow cooker, combine cheese mixture and add the eggs (I omitted the eggs), sour cream, soup, salt, milk, mustard and pepper. Add the drained macaroni and stir again.
- Cook on low for 2 1/2 hours, stirring occasionally.

- Boil the macaroni noodles for 5 minutes, you don't want them entirely cooked through as they'll do more cooking in the slow cooker.
- Combine all ingredients except the milk in the slow cooker. Cook on high for 2 hours or low for 3, stirring once or twice and keeping an eye on the consistency of the pasta.
- Add up to a cup of warm milk if desired for a creamier consistency.
- Serve warm and enjoy!

- Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 9-by-13-inch baking dish; set aside. In saucepan, cook macaroni according to package directions; drain. Return macaroni to saucepan.
- While the macaroni is hot, add the cheeses to the pan; stir well. Spread the macaroni mixture in the prepared baking dish. In a bowl, whisk together the milk, sour cream, eggs, butter, hot sauce, and salt. Pour the milk mixture over the macaroni.
- Bake for 35 to 40 minutes or until golden brown and bubbling. Let stand for 10 minutes before serving.

- Boil pasta for one minute UNDER the "al dente" option on the box. Using the elbow macaroni, the lucky number is typically "5". (If you boil too long, the pasta will become mushy in the crock pot).
- While the pasta is boiling, cut the butter into smaller pieces for quicker melting. Add the butter, along with the sharp cheddar to a non-stick sauce pan and melt over medium heat, stirring often. (If you do not use a non-stick pan, the cheese clean up will get very messy)
