1 tablespoon honey

Steps:

  • Place the bacon in a skillet, and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned and crisp, about 10 minutes. Drain the bacon slices on a paper towel-lined plate.
  • Toast the slices of whole wheat bread in a toaster, and spread a toasted slice with peanut butter and honey. Place the bacon on the honey, top with the remaining toasted bread slice, and serve.

Peanut Butter and Bacon Scones image

Traditional buttermilk scones get a sweet and savory upgrade with the addition of peanut butter, bacon and sweet glaze.

Number Of Ingredients 9

4 strips bacon, roughly chopped (about 4 ounces)
4 cups all-purpose flour (see Cook's Note)
6 tablespoons confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon baking soda
3/4 teaspoons fine salt
1 1/2 cups buttermilk
1/4 cup smooth peanut butter
2 tablespoons milk
1/2 cup dry-roasted peanuts, chopped

Steps:

  • Position a rack in the upper third of the oven and preheat to 425 degrees F. Line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Cook the bacon in a large skillet over medium heat until crispy, stirring occasionally, about 10 minutes. Remove from the skillet onto a paper towel-lined plate. Strain the bacon drippings and reserve.
  • Whisk the flour, 2 tablespoons of the confectioners' sugar, baking soda and salt together in a large bowl. Whisk the buttermilk, peanut butter and 1 tablespoon bacon fat in a medium bowl until smooth. Add the chopped bacon.
  • Add the buttermilk mixture to the flour mixture and quickly mix with a rubber spatula to form a shaggy dough. Turn the dough out onto a clean work surface and pat into a circle, about 9-inches wide. Cut into 8 wedges. Evenly space the wedges on the prepared baking sheet.
  • Combine 1 teaspoon of the bacon drippings with the milk and remaining 4 tablespoons confectioners' sugar in a small bowl. Brush some the glaze on top of each scone (there will be some left). Sprinkle with the chopped peanuts. Bake until the tops of scones are lightly golden, about 15 minutes. Transfer to a rack and brush or drizzle with the remaining glaze while they cool. Serve warm or at room temperature.

1 egg
1 teaspoon baking soda
7 slices cooked and diced bacon
2 tablespoons white sugar, or as needed

  • Beat peanut butter, 1/2 cup white sugar, and brown sugar together in the bowl of a stand mixer until well combined. Add egg and baking soda; beat until smooth, 1 minute. Fold in bacon. Form dough into walnut-sized balls.
  • Pour 2 tablespoons white sugar into a bowl; roll balls in the sugar until coated. Arrange coated balls on a baking sheet.

2 tablespoons butter (melted)
9 slices white bread
1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
6 slices bacon, fried crisp and crumbled

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees.
  • Remove the crust from the bread (or buy bread with the crust already removed).
  • Brush both sides of the bread slices with melted butter.
  • Spread peanut butter on each slice of bread.
  • Top with crumbled bacon.
  • Cut each slice of bread into 4 pieces.
  • Place bread quarter on a non-stick baking sheet.
  • Bake on the center rack in the oven for 8 to 10 minutes or until bread turns brown and toasty.
  • Serve and watch the reaction! Make sure you have copies of the recipe on hand to give out.

1 cup butter, melted
2 large eggs, room temperature
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
FROSTING:
1 cup creamy peanut butter
1/2 cup butter, softened
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
3 to 4 tablespoons 2% milk
6 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350°. Line a 13x9-in. pan with parchment, letting ends extend up sides; grease paper., In a large bowl, beat brown sugar and butter until blended. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into sugar mixture. Fold in bacon., Spread into prepared pan. Bake 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean (do not overbake). Cool completely in pan on a wire rack. Lifting with parchment, remove from pan. , For frosting, in a large bowl, beat peanut butter and butter until blended.   • Spread peanut butter generously on four slices of bread.
  • Top with four remaining bread slices and trim crusts.
  • Cut each sandwich into thirds, vertically and horizontally, to make nine cubes.
