White Chocolate Covered Pretzels are pretzel rods dipped in white chocolate and crushed candy cane. Christmas pretzels are the perfect holiday snack and edible gift that's fun to make! Everyone loves sweet and salty chocolate covered pretzels.

6 (1 ounce) Candy Cane
1 (10 ounce bag) White Chocolate Chips
10 Pretzel Rods

Steps:

  • Lay CANDY CANE on a baking sheet and use a bumpy tenderizer to crush candy into small pieces. Set aside.
  • Heat WHITE CHOCOLATE CHIPS in a microwave-safe container on medium power in 30-50 second intervals until chocolate is melted and smooth, stirring between cycles. * see footnote about overheating
  • One at a time, dip PRETZEL ROD into melted chocolate. All at once, twist, pull up, and push the pretzel rod against the inside of the container to remove excess chocolate and and form an even coating.
  • Sprinkle peppermint pieces over chocolate rod before it sets. Lay pretzel rod on a baking sheet until fully set (about 10 min).
  • Store in an airtight container at room temperature up to 1 week.

6 (1 ounce) squares white chocolate
1 (15 ounce) package mini twist pretzels
¼ cup red and green candy sprinkles

Steps:

  • Melt white chocolate in the top of a double boiler, stirring constantly.
  • Dip pretzel halfway into the white chocolate, completely covering half of the pretzel. Roll in topping if desired, and lay on wax paper.
  • Continue the process until all of the white chocolate is finished. Place in refrigerator for 15 minutes to harden. Store in airtight container.

  • Place the semisweet chocolate and 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl. Heat for 30 seconds, stir, then continue heating in 15-second bursts, stirring between each. Repeat until the chocolate is almost but not entirely melted. Remove from the microwave, add 1/2 teaspoon of the peppermint extract, and stir, letting the residual heat melt the chocolate the rest of the way. Chocolate can burn quickly and easily, so don’t walk away or be too ambitious with the amount of time you are adding. Your patience will be rewarded.
  • Place the white chocolate and remaining 1 1/2 teaspoons coconut oil in a separate microwave-safe bowl and melt, following the same process above. Stir in the remaining 1/2 teaspoon peppermint extract.
  • Dip half of the pretzels into the white chocolate, leaving one corner undipped. Shake off any excess and use a knife or fork to wipe some of the excess chocolate off of the back of the pretzels so that the holes are open. Place on the prepared baking sheet. With the tines of a separate fork, drizzle with semisweet chocolate and immediately sprinkle with the crushed candy pieces. I was able to dip about four pretzels in a row before sprinkling and have enough time before the coating hardened.

If you are going to use white chocolate chips, place the chocolate chips in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave for 1 minute and 30 seconds at 50% power. Stir the chips. Microwave for 30 seconds at 100% power. Stir until chocolate is melted and smooth. It might take a little more or less time, depending on your microwave. The key is to not over cook the chocolate.
  • Dunk each pretzel crisp into the melted white chocolate, making sure the entire pretzel is coated. Use a fork to remove the pretzels from the chocolate. Gently shake the fork back and forth to remove any excess chocolate.
  • Place the dipped pretzels on the parchment paper or wax paper and sprinkle immediately with crushed candy canes. Let the pretzels sit until the chocolate hardens. If your house is warm or if you want to speed up the process, place the baking sheet in the refrigerator. Store the chocolate covered pretzels in an airtight container on the counter or in the fridge for up to 2 weeks.
