4 pork chops
2 carrots, finely chopped
salt and black pepper
1 large onion, chopped
1/2 cup white wine
3 garlic cloves, finely chopped
4 mushrooms, chopped
3/4 cup tomatoes, chopped
2 celery ribs, chopped

Steps:

  • Season the chops with salt and pepper and brown in a frying pan.
  • Remove from pan and set aside.
  • In the same pan, cook the rest of the ingredients for 5-10 minutes.
  • Arrange the chops in an oven dish, cover with the vegetable mixture and cook in an preheated oven (220C) for about 20 minutes. Serve with boiled or mashed potatoes.
  • Note:Following Zurie's comments;I think you should add more seasoning;maybe garlic.

This was my favorite dish when I was a kid. I also made it often when we were first married, and my husband still requests it! It's great with chicken breast, too. Just cut the baking time to 30 minutes. Serve with rice. UPDATE: I'm editing the amount of water in this recipe to 1/4 cup. If you're NOT using very lean chops, you can omit it all together.

4 pork chops
1 (8 ounce) can tomato sauce
1/2 cup chopped celery
1/2 cup chopped onion
2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
1/2 lemon, juice of
1 teaspoon mustard
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 cup water

Steps:

  • Brown pork chops and place in shallow baking dish.
  • Mix together remaining ingredients and pour over chops.
  • Bake, uncovered, in preheated 350 oven for 45 minutes.
