Steps:
- Preheat oven to 450°F. In a large bowl, sift together first 5 ingredients. Stir in cheese and jalapeños. With a pastry cutter, cut in shortening until dough is pea size. Stir in buttermilk. In a small bowl, dissolve yeast in warm water; let stand several minutes. Add to dough, mixing lightly. Turn dough onto a well-floured surface; knead lightly. Roll out ½ to ¾ inch thick. Use a 2½-inch biscuit cutter to cut biscuits. Bake on a greased cookie sheet 10-12 minutes.
