Try using rum in place of whisky in an old-fashioned for a twist on the traditional cocktail. Finish with ice and a strip of orange peel

Steps:
- Put half the rum, the sugar syrup and bitters in a mixing glass or jug. Add three ice cubes and stir slowly with a mixing spoon until the outside of the glass feels cold. Add the rest of the rum and a few more ice cubes, then stir to just combine.
- Strain the drink into an ice-filled rocks glass or tumbler and garnish with the strip of orange peel.

- Place the sugar cube in an old-fashioned glass and sprinkle with bitters. Crush sugar with muddler or the back of a wooden spoon. Add lemon peel, ice cubes, and rum, and stir gently until glass is cool. Garnish with orange slice or twist and cherry.

- Combine the brown sugar, butter, salt and hot water in 5 quart slow cooker. Add cinnamon sticks and cloves. Cover and cook on Low for 5 hours. Stir in rum.
