Canned Corned Beef makes this meal come together in just minutes as opposed to having to spend hours waiting on a crock pot. It's so easy.

1 can Corn Beef - 12oz
1 small Cabbage
2 Tablespoon Bacon Grease
½ teaspoon Salt
½ teaspoon Black Pepper
½ teaspoon Sugar
¼ cup Water

Steps:

  • Rinse the cabbage under cool running water.
  • Cut cabbage into quarters, discarding the stem.
  • Slice cabbage into bite sized pieces.
  • Place a skillet over Medium heat on your stove top and let it heat up.
  • Add the bacon grease and let melt.
  • Add the bite sized pieces of cabbage.
  • Add salt.
  • Add black pepper.
  • Add the sugar.
  • Add the water.
  • Stir well to combine.
  • Cover and let simmer 5 minutes.
  • Crumble the corn beef over the cabbage.
  • Cover again and let simmer 8-10 minutes or until cabbage is done as desired.

2 (12 ounce) cans corned beef (from the canned meat aisle)
1/2 lb bacon
1 head cabbage
1 large onion (optional)
salt and pepper

Steps:

  • Fry bacon and tear into bite sized pieces.
  • Drain off all but about 2 T bacon grease.
  • Slice onion if using and add to pan along with cabbage which has been cut into medium-sized pieces.
  • Begin sauteing the above.
  • Open the cans of corned beef and"chunk" the meat, either with a fork or your fingers and add to the pan of cabbage and onion.
  • Continue cooking until the cabbage and onion are soft and the meat is heated through.
  • Season very well with salt and pepper (to your taste).
  • Serve hot.

3 pounds corned beef brisket with spice packet
10 small red potatoes
5 carrots, peeled and cut into 3-inch pieces
1 large head cabbage, cut into small wedges

Steps:

  • Place corned beef in large pot or Dutch oven and cover with water. Add the spice packet that came with the corned beef. Cover pot and bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer. Simmer approximately 50 minutes per pound or until tender.
  • Add whole potatoes and carrots, and cook until the vegetables are almost tender. Add cabbage and cook for 15 more minutes. Remove meat and let rest 15 minutes.
  • Place vegetables in a bowl and cover. Add as much broth (cooking liquid reserved in the Dutch oven or large pot) as you want. Slice meat across the grain.

4 slices bacon
4 tablespoons butter
1 head green cabbage, coarsely chopped
salt & freshly ground black pepper, to taste if needed
8 ounces deli corned beef, thinly sliced, then cut into strips

Steps:

  • Cook the bacon in large skillet over medium heat until almost crisp. Remove the bacon from the pan and set aside.
  • Melt the butter in the pan with the bacon grease. Add the cabbage, stirring well to coat the cabbage in fat.
  • Add about 1/3 cup water, and salt and pepper, to taste. Cover pan with a lid, and cook over medium heat for about 10-15 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, chop the bacon into small pieces and cut the thinly sliced deli corned beef into strips.
  • Remove the lid from the pot, and scatter corned beef and chopped bacon over top of the cabbage. Cover and cook until desired doneness.
  • I personally like a little bit of crunch left to the cabbage.
  • You can serve this with your favorite mashed, baked or boiled potatoes as a side dish. I like to served steamed carrots with this too.

2 tablespoons brown sugar
2 bay leaves
3-1/2 pounds small potatoes (10-15), peeled
8 medium carrots, halved crosswise
1 medium head cabbage, cut into wedges
HORSERADISH SAUCE:
3 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon cider vinegar
1/4 cup horseradish

Steps:

  • Place brisket, contents of seasoning packet, brown sugar and bay leaves in a large Dutch oven or stockpot; cover with water. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, 2 hours., Add potatoes and carrots; return to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, just until beef and vegetables are tender, 30-40 minutes. (If pot is full, remove potatoes and carrots before adding cabbage; reheat before serving.), Add cabbage to pot; return to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, covered, until cabbage is tender, about 15 minutes. Remove vegetables and corned beef; keep warm., For horseradish sauce, strain and reserve 1-1/2 cups cooking juices; skim fat from reserved juices. Discard remaining juices.
