Greatfood Szechuan peppercorns offer a spicy, woody, and delightful citrus scent to this juicy New York Strip steak. 1 tablespoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon cornstarch
1/3 cup plus 2 tablespoons cold water
1 1/2 pound beef loin sirloin steak, cut crosswise into 3- by 1/4- by 1/4-inch strips
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon black pepper
1/4 cup olive oil or vegetable oil
4 bell peppers in assorted colors, cut into 1/4-inch-thick strips
1 large onion, halved lengthwise and cut crosswise into 1/4-inch-thick slices
3 garlic cloves, sliced
Accompaniment: cooked white rice

Steps:

  • Stir together soy sauce, cornstarch, and 1/3 cup water in a cup.
  • Pat steak dry and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Heat 2 tablespoons oil in a 12-inch heavy skillet over moderately high heat until hot but not smoking. Stir-fry half of steak until browned but still pink inside, about 4 minutes. Transfer to a bowl with a slotted spoon and repeat with remaining steak, adding 1 tablespoon oil to skillet.
  • Add remaining tablespoon oil to skillet and stir-fry bell peppers, onion, and garlic, until onion is golden, 6 to 7 minutes. Stir in remaining 2 tablespoons water and cook, covered, 3 minutes. Return steak to skillet, then stir in cornstarch mixture. Bring to a boil and cook, stirring, 2 minutes.

I was tired of buying this from a deli for lunch and wanted to make it for dinner and this is the recipe they gave me to make it at home. It is very simple and is definitely a comfort food. Serve with mashed potatoes and a veggie and you have a great easy dinner! Enjoy!!

8 cube steaks
2 (1 1/4 ounce) packages of dry gravy mix, make as directed on package (I use one regular & one mushroom package)
2 medium green peppers, sliced 1
2 medium onions, sliced 1
1 tablespoon Mrs. Dash seasoning mix

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • In a baking dish season both sides of the cube steaks, cover with foil and cook for about 15-20 minutes or until no longer pink.
  • While steak are cooking go ahead and prepare the gravy, and cut peppers & onions.
  • Drain off any liquid from the baking dish, put peppers & onion slices over meat and then cover with gravy, place the foil back on.
  • Cook about 25-30 minutes longer until veggies are tender.
  • Enjoy this great dish!

1 (1 lb) skirt steak
1 medium sweet onion, sliced
2 celery ribs, chopped
2 green onions, chopped
5 garlic cloves, minced
2 tablespoons canola oil
1/2 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon szechuan sauce
1/2 teaspoon hot chili sauce
1 tablespoon sake or 1 tablespoon dry sherry
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
2 -3 drops sesame oil
2 tablespoons sugar

Steps:

  • Partially freeze beef and slice thinly against the grain. Toss with Corn Starch, add Soy, and marinate for 15 to 30 minutes.
  • Thinly slice onion, dice celery and mince garlic.
  • Combine all ingredients for sauce.
  • Heat wok over high heat until almost smoking.
  • Add pepper flakes if desired and oil.
  • Cook beef ½ at a time until meat is medium, remove and set aside.
  • Add onion, celery to hot wok and stir-fry for 30 seconds, then add garlic and beef. Toss together.
  • Add sauce and cook for 1 - 2 minutes.
  • Garnish with chopped green onion.
