AN AMAZINGLY EASY FRENCH TOAST RECIPE
Steps:
- First, you're going to add 1 cup of milk into a bowl. Or in my case a clear casserole dish, because it will be easier to dip your bread into the mixture.
- Next, add in two large eggs to your milk.
- After you've added in your milk, and eggs, you will add 1 teaspoon of sugar.
- Lastly, you will add 1 teaspoon of ground cinnamon and 1/4 teaspoon of vanilla flavoring.
- Then, you will whisk all your ingredients together.
- After you've finished whisking, this is what your mixture will look like.
- Now that you've created your French Toast mixture it's time to actually cook your French toast. As I mentioned earlier, I'm using honey wholewheat bread, but you can pretty much use any bread of your choice.
- Always remember to butter your pan or griddle whichever you prefer to use.
- Now I'm going to dip my bread into my mix.
- Remember, do not allow your bread to soak into the mixture for long. You do not want your bread to become soggy.
- Next, I'm going to place my bread four slices at a time on my griddle.
- You will cook your bread for about three-five minutes on each side, or until it reaches your desired crispness.
- Once my French toast is finished I place it on my cutting board, and cut it in halves.
- After I cook my French toast, I put it on a plate and began to add my fresh strawberries, powdered sugar, and syrup.
- This part is totally optionally, you can add powdered sugar to your delicious French toast.
- After you've have topped your French toast with strawberries and powdered sugar, the only thing missing is your syrup and fork.

Steps:
- Whisk together eggs, cream, vanilla, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt in a medium bowl; set aside.
- Place bread in a shallow baking dish large enough to hold bread slices in a single layer. Pour egg mixture over bread; soak 10 minutes. Turn slices over; soak until soaked through, about 10 minutes more.
- Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Place a wire rack on a baking sheet, and set aside. Heat 2 tablespoons butter and 2 tablespoons vegetable oil in a skillet over medium heat. Fry half the bread slices until golden brown, 2 to 3 minutes per side. Transfer to wire rack; place in oven while cooking remaining bread. Wipe skillet, and repeat with remaining butter, oil, and bread. Keep in oven until ready to serve. Serve warm with pure maple syrup, if desired.

BUTTER PECAN FRENCH TOAST
This dish is a fabulous twist on traditional French toast. Substituting French bread for regular sliced bread and adding bourbon to the sauce makes it a real showstopper that's perfect for breakfast, brunch or even dessert.

Steps:
- Heat a large nonstick skillet over medium-low heat and melt 2 tablespoons of the butter.
- In a large bowl, combine the milk, eggs, 1/4 cup of the brown sugar, the cinnamon, and vanilla. Whisk together until everything's combined and smooth.
- One by one, dunk the slices of bread into the egg mixture and place them on the buttery skillet.
- Fit as many slices in the skillet as you can, cooking them until golden on the first side, about 2 1/2 minutes. Flip to cook them on the other side for about 2 minutes. Remove them to a plate. Add 2 tablespoons of the butter to the skillet and repeat with the rest of the bread slices until they're all cooked.
- To the same skillet, add the remaining 4 tablespoons butter, the remaining 1 cup of brown sugar, and the salt. Stir and cook over medium heat until the butter and sugar are melted and bubbling, 2 to 3 minutes. Turn off the heat completely, pour in the bourbon and stir, allowing the fumes to dissipate for about 1 minute. Turn the stove on medium heat and continue to stir and cook for another minute, or until the mixture is starting to thicken. Add the pecans, stir to combine. Keep cooking the sauce, stirring constantly, until the mixture is deep golden, 2 to 3 minutes. Be careful not to cook it too long as it will become chewy, you want a nice caramelly sauce. Turn off the heat.
- Serve two pieces of French toast with a little butter. Sift over some powdered sugar.
- Spoon on a generous amount of the sauce then top with whipped cream and a sprinkling of cinnamon.
FRENCH TOAST
You can use white sandwich bread, but French toast also works well with other loaves, including brioche, challah, cinnamon-raisin, whole-wheat, French, even sourdough.

Steps:
- Whisk together eggs, milk, sugar, and salt (as well as the optional vanilla extract and cinnamon, if using) in a medium shallow bowl until the mixture is fluffy and light in color.
- Melt 1 tablespoon butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Working with one bread slice at a time, soak the bread in the egg mixture for 3 to 4 seconds per side. Don't let the slices sit too long; they will turn soggy and fall apart.
- Once butter is melted and bubbling, add 3 soaked bread slices to hot pan and cook until golden brown, or about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. (There may be some spots that do not brown; that's normal.)
- Flip each slice, and cook until gold brown, or about 1 1/2 to 2 minutes. Repeat with remaining butter and egg-soaked bread. Serve hot with toppings of choice.

SOUTHERN FRIED FRENCH TOAST
My mom used to make fried french toast on special occasions, it was a family favorite. It has a nice crispy coating on the outside. I like a good loaf of thick cut French bread for this.
