I combined different recipes to make up this easy dessert, and now I always keep the ingredients on hand. Serve it warm with whipped topping or ice cream for a comforting finish to meals. Or fix it for brunch instead of a fruit salad.

- Pour applesauce into a greased 13-in. x 9-in. baking dish. Layer with the pineapple, peaches, pears and mandarin oranges. Spread with pie filling., For topping, combine the flour, brown sugar and butter. Sprinkle over pie filling. Bake at 375° for 40-45 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm with whipped topping if desired.

- Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
- For the crisp: Mix together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt in a bowl. Using a pastry blender, 2 knives or a food processor, cut in the butter. Stir in the oats.
- For the fruit: Toss the fruit with the cornstarch, granulated sugar as needed and the lemon zest if using.
- Transfer the fruit mixture to a baking dish and top with the crisp mixture. Bake until the middle is warmed through and the top is crispy and golden brown, 50 to 55 minutes.
