Sourdough Chipped Beef Dip Recipes
CHIPPED BEEF DIP
This is an easy cold dip that my husband begs me to make every holiday. I originally got the recipe from my mother-in-law, and I substituted chives for the green onion since I am allergic to onions. They can be added back into the recipe if desired. I serve this with celery sticks, baby carrots, sliced peppers, and crackers.

Steps:
- Rinse dried beef in warm water, pat dry with paper towels, and slice into smaller pieces.
- Mix beef, green onions, cream cheese, sour cream, and ranch dressing mix in a bowl.
- Cover bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate 8 hours to overnight.

Steps:
- Mix well all ingredients except bread.
- Slice top off bread round and hollow out carefully, making sure there are no weak places in bread shell.
- Fill bread shell with chipped beef mixture and put top back on the shell.
- Wrap shell in foil and bake at 300 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
- Use soft bread from the interior of the loaf to dip in hot mixture.

- Whisking constantly, add in the milk and half and half and bring the mixture to a boil. Once it reaches a boil, reduce the heat to medium and continue stirring until the sauce is smooth and slightly thickened.
- Stir in the pepper, chives, and nutmeg and season to taste for salt. Continue cooking until the sauce is thick and creamy, but still pourable, about 5 more minutes.
