SPARKLING MINT LIMEADE

Sparkling Mint Limeade image

Provided by The Kitchen Prep

Categories     Drinks

Time 25m

Number Of Ingredients 7

1/3 cup sugar
1/3 cup water
3 sprigs of mint
Juice of 3 limes
Juice of 1 lemon
Approximately 1 1/2 cups water
Lime flavored sparkling water

Steps:

  • Make the mint syrup: Stir together sugar and water and bring to a boil in a small saucepan. Boil for about a minute, then remove from heat and toss in mint sprigs. Let mint steep for about 10-15 minutes to develop mint flavor. Press on mint leaves to extract the last of the flavor, and discard.
  • In a pitcher or desired container, stir together lime juice, lemon juice and cooled mint syrup. Add about 1 1/2 cups of water to dilute. {This is where you may want to start tasting and deciding how strong you prefer it to be.}
  • To serve, pour limeade into a glass filled with ice {about 1/2 to 3/4 of the way full}, then top with lime sparkling water. Garnish with a lime wheel and mint if desired.

SPARKLING GINGER MINT LIMEADE

Sparkling Ginger Mint Limeade image

Provided by Marybeth Wells

Number Of Ingredients 9

6 cup filtered water (I use water from my Berkey (not affiliated, just love it))
2-3 lemons
5-6 limes (plus slices or wedges for garnish)
2 cup packed fresh mint (plus some for garnish)
1/4-1/2 cup fresh basil (optional, but delicious)
1/3-1/2 cup maple syrup or honey (to taste)
6 tbsp fresh ginger (chopped)
1 bottle sparkling water or soda water
ice for serving

Steps:

  • Prepare by laying all ingredients and equipment together on your countertop. In a blender, combine water, lemon juice, lime juice, mint, basil, maple syrup/honey, and ginger. Blend on high until smooth.
  • Pour into a nut milk bag or cheesecloth (I prefer a nut milk bag because it's much less cleanup) over a bowl with a pour spout or a pitcher. Once most of the fluid has been strained, gently squeeze the bag to get out the remaining liquid.*
  • To serve, fill your glass with ice and pour 2/3 of the way full with limeade mixture. Top the remaining space in the class with sparkling water. Garnish with lime and fresh mint.**
