Spicy Garlic Chicken Wings with Blue Cheese Dip image

Spicy garlic chicken wings that will set your mouth on fire. It's a good thing there's the best blue cheese dip to dunk them in and help cool down the flames!

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1/2 cup heaping blue cheese ( freshly crumbled)
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 tablespoons white wine vinegar
2 dashes Worcestershire sauce
1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
5 pounds chicken wings (broken down into wingettes and drumettes)
3 tablespoons light olive oil
1 cup Frank's Red Hot hot sauce
1 clove garlic (peeled)
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce
1 egg yolk
2 teaspoons water
2 teaspoons cornstarch

Steps:

  • Combine all the ingredients in a small bowl. Break up any large pieces of blue cheese, cover and refrigerate until ready you dip.
  • Preheat your oven to 425°. Line a rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil (nonstick if you can find it) and brush with a olive oil.
  • Toss the wings in 3 tablespoons of olive oil. Arrange the wings on the prepared pan and bake for 30 minutes, rotating halfway through. Then turn on the broil and position the wings on the top rack just under the broiler until the skin crisps and is golden brown.
  • Meanwhile prepare the wing sauce. In a sauce pan pour in the Frank's, grate in the fresh garlic and add in the sugar, black pepper, cayenne pepper and Worcestershire sauce. Stir while it is brought up to a simmer for for a few minutes until hot then remove off the heat.
  • In a large bowl whisk together the egg yolk, water and cornstarch. While whisking, slowly stream a little of the warm hot sauce into bowl with the egg/cornstarch. Once combined, gradually add in the rest of the sauce.
  • Add cooked wings into the spicy garlic sauce and toss to coat.
  • Serve with the blue cheese dip and enjoy!

1/4 cup mayonnaise
1/4 cup sour cream
1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice or apple cider vinegar
1 to 3 tablespoons milk or buttermilk, or to taste
Kosher salt and black pepper
1/2 cup Louisiana-style hot sauce, such as Frank's
2 tablespoons olive oil
1 large garlic clove, grated
4 cups raw chopped vegetables, such as a mix of celery, carrots, cucumbers, radishes and snap peas

Steps:

  • Make the dip: In a small bowl, stir together the blue cheese, mayonnaise, sour cream and lemon juice. Thin with milk until spoonable. Season to taste with salt and pepper and set aside. (Dip keeps for up to 4 days in the refrigerator; thin as needed with more milk.)
  • Just before serving, prepare the crudités: In a large bowl, stir together the hot sauce, olive oil and garlic until combined. Toss with vegetables until evenly coated. Serve with the dip.

2/3 cup sugar
2 teaspoons salt
2 teaspoons grated orange zest
2 garlic cloves, minced

3/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
3/4 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
BLUE CHEESE DIP:
1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup blue cheese salad dressing

2 teaspoons Italian salad dressing mix

Steps:

  • In a small bowl, combine the soy sauce, sugar, salt, orange zest, garlic and pepper. Pour half of the marinade into a large shallow dish. Add the chicken; turn to coat. 2 large whole garlic bulbs
1 tablespoon plus 1/2 cup olive oil, divided
1/2 cup butter, melted
1 teaspoon hot pepper sauce
1-1/2 cups seasoned bread crumbs
3/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
3/4 cup grated Romano cheese
1/2 teaspoon pepper
15 whole chicken wings (about 3 pounds)

Steps:

  • Remove papery outer skin from garlic (do not peel or separate cloves). Cut top off garlic bulbs. Brush with 1 tablespoon oil. Wrap each bulb in heavy-duty foil. Bake at 425° for 30-35 minutes or until softened. Cool for 10-15 minutes., Squeeze the softened garlic into a blender. Add the butter, hot pepper sauce and remaining oil; cover and process until smooth. Pour into a shallow bowl. In another shallow bowl, combine the bread crumbs, cheeses and pepper., Cut chicken wings into three sections; discard wing tip section. cooking spray
½ cup butter
¾ cup hot pepper sauce (such as Valentina®)
¼ cup sucralose sugar substitute (such as Splenda®)
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
3 pounds chicken wing pieces, drumettes and flats
½ cup blue cheese salad dressing

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Line a rimmed baking pan with foil. Spray a wire rack with cooking spray and set inside the baking pan.
  • Melt butter in a small saucepan. Mix in hot sauce, sucralose, salt, and garlic powder. Remove from heat and set sauce aside.
  • Place chicken wing pieces on the prepared rack.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Remove from the oven, pour off any juices accumulated in the bottom of the pan, and turn chicken pieces over. Bake for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Remove chicken from the oven and transfer to a large bowl. Cover with sauce and toss to coat. Return chicken to the rack on the baking pan and bake until no longer pink at the bone and the juices run clear, 15 to 30 minutes. An instant-read thermometer inserted near the bone should read 165 degrees F (74 degrees C).
