SPICY MEXICAN-STYLE BLOODY MARY MIX RECIPE
Make your own Bloody Mary Mix with this homemade Mexican-style recipe, which incorporates fresh roasted tomatoes, roasted jalapeno peppers, Mexican oregano, plenty of spicy seasonings and so much more. Packed with flavor.

Steps:
- Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
- Slice the heirloom tomatoes in half and lay them onto a lightly oiled baking sheet, skin sides up.
- Slice the jalapeno peppers in half lengthwise and lay on the baking sheet, skin sides up.
- Wrap the head of garlic in aluminum foil with a splash of olive oil and dash of salt and set onto the baking sheet.
- Roast 30-35 minutes until the pepper skins are nicely charred.
- While tomatoes and peppers are roasting, heat a large pot to medium heat and add olive oil.
- Add onion and celery and cook about 5 minutes to soften.
- Remove tomatoes, peppers and garlic and cool slightly.
- Peel the tomatoes and peppers and squeeze the garlic form their skins. Add it all to the large pot.
- With the heat on low, add remaining ingredients except lime and stir.
- Bring to a light boil, then reduce heat and simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Add lime juice and stir.
- Remove from heat.
- Cool slightly and strain. A food mill works great here to remove the bulky solids.

- Blend the tomatoes, lemon and lime juice, Worcestershire, garlic, hot sauce, horseradish, salt, Old Bay, celery seed and pepper until smooth. Cover and chill until needed. This recipe makes 6 to 7 cups, depending on the size of the tomatoes; the mix will keep for 1 week.
- To assemble 6 servings:.
- In a pitcher, combine the mix and vodka.
- If desired, dampen the rims of 6 old-fashioned glasses and dip them in coarse salt. Fill each glass halfway with ice, then divide the Bloody Marys among them.
- Garnish each with a pickled bean or celery stalk, and serve.
SPICY CAJUN BLOODY MARY MIX
I made gallons and gallons of this stuff during Mardi Gras in the French Quarter this year. It's delightfully spicy and flavorful without being over powered with heat.

- Mix all ingredients together in a pitcher or jug of some sort until the creole seasoning is completely dissolved. I like to use an empty gallon jug or something with a top so I can shake all the ingredients together. You can use right away, but I prefer to let it sit in the fridge and "mingle" for a few hours.
- When making drinks with the mix try rimming your glasses with creole seasoning. Pickled green beans, pickled okra, lemon, lime and of course an olive make for a wonderfully garnished spicy cajun mary.
- You can always add more or less creole seasoning and tabasco to taste.
- Make sure to have extra tomato juice on hand to "dilute" to people's personal taste preference. I sometimes had to add half mix and half juice for my customers who couldn't handle the heat.

- Store covered in the refrigerator.
- Directions for mixing drink: Add 3 parts of the Spicy Bloody Mary Mix to 1 part vodka, gin, rum or tequila, over ice.

- Simply pour over ice and serve.

SPICY BLOODY MARY MIX
My father-in-law first introduced me to this homemade bloody mary mix. It is very similar to what you'd buy in a store. Made as is, it is very spicy. You can customize it to your taste by cutting back on the pepper and hot sauce; I like about half the pepper and hot sauce. Enjoy this wonderful mix! It is so easy and much cheaper than buying pre-made mix.
