This recipe is easy and foolproof. It makes a very soft and tasty loaf of bread with a flaky crust.

1 cup warm water (110 degrees F/45 degrees C)
2 tablespoons white sugar
1 (.25 ounce) package bread machine yeast
¼ cup vegetable oil
3 cups bread flour
1 teaspoon salt

Steps:

  • Place the water, sugar and yeast in the pan of the bread machine. Let the yeast dissolve and foam for 10 minutes. Add the oil, flour and salt to the yeast. Select Basic or White Bread setting, and press Start.

This recipe indicates that it's a "springtime" recipe, however, this bread tastes SO INCREDIBLE any time of the year!

*1 cup water
*1/4 cup butter (you can also use smart balance, brummel and brown with yogurt, which is my favorite, etc.)
*1 large egg (I have never tried egg substitute)
*1 and 1/2 tsp. vanilla extract
*1 and 1/4 tsp. almond extract (I have also used hazelnut)
*1 tsp. salt
*3 and 3/4 cups bread flour
*1/2 cup sugar (sugar substitutes will also work!)
*3 Tbsp. dry milk ( I use Carnation non-fat)
*2 tsp. active dry yeast
*3/4 cup raisins (golden raisins and craisins taste great too!)
*1 and 1/2 tsp. shredded orange peel ( I have also used dried orange peel from the baking aisle)

Steps:

  • 1)measure and add liquid ingredients to the bread pan.
  • 2)Measure and add dry ingredients (except yeast) to the bread pan.
  • 3)Use our finger to for a well (hole) in the flour where you will pour the yeast. Yeast must NEVER come into contact with a liquid when you are adding ingredients. Measure the yeast and carefully pour it into the well.
  • 4)Snap the baking pan into the bread maker and close the lid.
  • 5) Using the select button, choose the Sweet setting.
  • 6) Press the "Crust Color" button to choose your preferred crust (light, medium or dark)
  • 7) Press the Start/Stop button.

Mmmmm, I just made a loaf of this and it is so good I had to share! It makes a very soft, nice sweet bread that would make delicious toast, french toast, bread pudding, omg . . . I need to make another loaf, now! This makes a 2 lb. loaf. The recipe came from my bread machine manual, but I didn't have the orange peel (which is why I know this bread is just as delicious without it!). :) This recipe should not be made using a delay timer.

1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
1 egg
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 1/4 teaspoons almond extract
1 teaspoon salt
3 3/4 cups bread flour
1/2 cup sugar
3 tablespoons dry milk
3/4 cup raisins
1 1/2 teaspoons shredded orange peel (optional)
2 teaspoons active dry yeast

Steps:

  • Measure and add ingredients in order listed to your bread machine (or in the order your bread machine uses, if different).
  • Choose "sweet bread" cycle on your machine.
  • Press start and wait patiently. :).

This is a modified Italian Easter bread made with a bread machine. Saves time, kneading, etc. The same ingredients are used but simplified by using a bread machine. This was a recipe handed down by my grandmother.

Number Of Ingredients 15

1/4 cup water, - 110degrees
2/3 cup milk, - 110dregrees
3/4 cup softened butter
2/3 cup granulated sugar
3/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
juice of one lemons or 1 teaspoon butter flavoring, as desired
2 eggs, beaten
5 cups unbleached flour
2 1/4 teaspoons yeast
colored raw egg
2 cups confectioners' sugar
1/4 cup milk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
non-pareils

Steps:

  • Add in order given above to bread machine. Process for dough cycle. Roll and shape into braided rings. Let rise. Bake at 340 degrees for approximately 20-25 minutes.
  • This bread can also have colored raw eggs put in the braids before baking. They will cook to hard boiled egg stage. After baking, cool and frost with 2 cups powdered sugar mixed with approximately 1/4 cup milk and 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract, then sprinkle with non-pareils.
