Steps:
- Start off by adding your milk to a stock pot.
- Heat over medium heat until it's simmering and bubbling around the edges. Do not scorch!
- Once milk is bubbling add sweetened condensed milk, vanilla & instant coffee* and stir constantly until sweetened condensed milk is mixed through.
- Add chocolate chips and stir until they are fully melted.
- Ladle into mugs and top with your favorite hot chocolate toppings and enjoy!

My mom created this stovetop hot chocolate recipe to serve large groups of carolers and frozen sledders. I take it to the lounge during a long winter to warm their spirits! - In a large saucepan, mix the sugars, cocoa and salt; gradually stir in water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, stirring constantly. Cook and stir for 2 minutes. Ladle into mugs. If desired, top with marshmallows.

- In a medium saucepan, combine the sugar, cocoa, and 1/2 cup of milk.
- Stir constantly over medium heat until the hot chocolate mixture comes to a boil. Cook, stirring constantly for 2 minutes.
- Add the remaining milk and heat, do not boil. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla if desired.
- Serve hot with mini marshmallows. Makes six servings.

- Heat a large saucepan over medium-high heat. In a small bowl whisk together the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and salt. Pour 1 cup of the milk into the sauce pan and add the cocoa powder and sugar mixture. Whisk until smooth and all of the lumps are removed.
- Add the remaining milk and whisk together well. Heat the hot chocolate mixture until very warm, but do not boil.
- Remove the hot chocolate from the heat and add ½ of a bar of milk chocolate. Mix until the chocolate is melted. Add vanilla if desired.
