My family loves the taste of tacos, but I dislike the mess! So I developed these burgers as a tasty but tidy alternative.-Linda Logan, Warren, Ohio

1 cup finely crushed corn chips
1 envelope taco seasoning
1 tablespoon dried minced onion
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1-1/2 pounds ground beef
6 slices cheddar cheese
Sandwich buns, split
Lettuce leaves
Tomato slices
Salsa, optional

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the corn chips, taco seasoning, onion and egg. Crumble beef over mixture and mix well. Shape into six patties. , Grill, covered, over medium heat or broil 4 in. from the heat for 7-8 minutes on each side or until a thermometer reads 160° and juices run clear., Top each burger with a cheese slice; heat just until cheese begins to melt. Serve on buns with lettuce, tomato and, if desired, salsa.

1 pound ground beef
1 (1 ounce) packet taco seasoning
5 slices pepper Jack cheese
5 roll (blank)s hamburger buns, split
¼ cup sour cream, or to taste
¼ cup salsa, or to taste
1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
1 tomato, sliced
1 avocado, sliced
½ onion, sliced

Steps:

  • Preheat an outdoor grill for medium-high heat and lightly oil the grate.
  • Mix ground beef and taco seasoning together in a bowl with your hands. Separate mixture into 5 equal portions. Form into patties.
  • Cook patties on the preheated grill for 5 minutes. Flip, top with pepper Jack cheese slices, and continue to grill until no longer pink or to desired doneness, about 5 minutes more. An instant-read thermometer inserted into the center of a patty should read at least 160 degrees F (70 degrees C).
  • Spread sour cream and salsa on buns, add patties, and top with cilantro, tomato, avocado, and onion.

2 1/2-inch-thick slices French Bread (about 2 oz. total)
1/2 teaspoon vegetable oil
3/4 cup sliced sweet onion
1/4 teaspoon bottled minced garlic
1 Grillers® Original
1/8 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons chopped tomato
1 tablespoon fat-free ranch salad dressing

Steps:

  • 1. In large nonstick skillet coated with cooking spray, cook bread over medium-high heat for 2 to 3 minutes or until lightly toasted, turning once. Remove from skillet. Set aside.
  • 2. Add oil to same skillet. Brush oil over skillet bottom. Add onion. Cook, covered, over medium-low heat for 15 to 18 minutes or until onion is very tender, stirring occasionally. Stir in garlic. Cook over medium heat, covered, for 4 to 6 minutes or until onion begins to brown, stirring occasionally. Remove from heat.
  • 3. Meanwhile, cook veggie burger according to package directions.
  • 3. Top one slice of toast with burger. Sprinkle with pepper. Add onion mixture, tomato, salad dressing and remaining toast.

1 1/4 ounces taco seasoning (I use the hot variety-McCormick)
1 lb ground beef
4 hamburger buns
1 -1 1/2 cup shredded lettuce
1 tomatoes, sliced thinly
1/2 red onion, chopped
1/2 cup fat free sour cream
1/2-3/4 cup fat-free cheddar cheese, grated
salsa

Steps:

  • Following package instructions cook beef and seasonings, but use only HALF of recommended water. Cook until no longer "drippy".
  • Spread sour cream among the four buns.
  • Place lettuce on bottom of each bun. Top with taco meat.
  • Top meat with onion, cheese, tomato, salsa.
  • Top with bun top.
  • I double the meat portion of this recipe and freeze half. Then just microwave for a second meal later on.

1 tablespoon cumin
2 teaspoons smoked paprika
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 heart of romaine lettuce, finely sliced
4 potato burger buns, toasted
1 cup shredded Cheddar
1 on-the-vine tomato, sliced
Pickled jalapenos, for topping, optional
Sour cream, for topping, optional

Steps:

  • Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat.
  • In a medium bowl, mix together the chuck, salt, cumin and paprika. Divide into 4 even patties and drizzle with a touch of olive oil. Grill the burgers until deep brown and just barely cooked through, 3 to 4 minutes per side.
  • Pile a bed of lettuce on the bottom of each bun. Top with a patty, some cheese and a slice of tomato. Top with pickled jalapenos and sour cream if desired.

I came up with this one because I wanted a burger and a taco, and couldn't have both in one meal. Turned out delicious, and got rave reviews! Also really simple to prepare!

1 lb lean ground beef or 1 lb ground turkey
1/2 envelope taco seasoning
1 can whole green chili, drained,rinsed,and patted dry
4 slices white cheddar cheese or 4 slices muenster cheese

Steps:

  • Mix the ground meat and taco seasoning with your hands.
  • Make 4 patties.
  • Spray grill with nonstick cooking spray before igniting.
  • Heat to medium, then put burgers on.
  • Cook about 5 minutes per side, or until done.
  • Place on chile and 1 slice of cheese on each burger, and cover until cheese is melted.
  • Serve on buns with sour cream, salsa, lettuce and tomato, or preferred garnishes.
  • You can make these on the stove as well, just cook them like you would a regular hamburger.
  • Make sure to use some cooking spray though!
