This is the best chocolate chip recipe I've found, and it came off the back of the store brand chocolate chips package from Albertsons.

Ingredients

1 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1 cup butter or 1 cup margarine, softened
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 1/2 cups flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
1 (12 ounce) package chocolate chips
walnuts, if you want them

Steps:

Cream together sugars and butter until light and fluffy in large bowl. Add eggs one a time, beating well after each. Add vanilla, beat well.
In a smaller bowl, combine flour, salt, and baking soda. Add gradually to wet ingredients until completely combined. Stir in entire package of chocolate chips and nuts if you desire.
Drop by rounded tablespoons onto a greased baking sheet. Bake at 375 F until browned, about 12 minutes.

1 cup butter, softened
1 cup packed brown sugar
1/2 cup sugar
2 large eggs, room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2-1/3 cups all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350°. In a large bowl, cream butter and sugars until light and fluffy, about 3 minutes. Beat in eggs and vanilla. In another bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt; gradually beat into creamed mixture. Stir in chocolate chips., Drop dough by rounded tablespoonfuls 3 in. apart onto greased baking sheets. Flatten slightly. Bake 10-12 minutes or until light brown. Remove from pans to wire racks to cool.

1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
½ teaspoon salt
3 cups all-purpose flour
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped walnuts

Steps:

Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, chocolate chips, and nuts. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
