Ingredients

1 ½ oz. silver tequila
1 ½ oz. lime juice, freshly squeezed
1 oz. simple syrup
1 oz. Grand Marnier
Salt, to rim the glass(es) with
Lime wedges or twists, for garnish

Steps:

If desired, rim your margarita glasses with salt, and set aside.
Combine the tequila, lime juice and simple syrup in a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake the ingredients until ice cold, then pour into a margarita glass filled with ice and rimmed with salt.
Pour the Grand Marnier on top of the margaritas, letting it float on top to create a beautiful ombre effect, or stir in.
Garnish with a lime wedge, and enjoy immediately.

There is another recipe for a Cadillac on this site, it is not the real deal. The other recipe has you adding sweet & sour mix into it, but a Cadillac should never, EVER contain sweet & sour or any other "mix" as it is a purists' margarita. If you were a bartender and had someone ask you for a Cadillac, I can assure you that if you put sweet & sour in it, they would not be returning to your bar. This is the real deal Cadillac, served in a martini glass, shaken like a martini.

Ingredients

2 ounces premium 100% agave silver tequila (such as 1921, Don Julio, 1800)
1 ounce triple-sec orange-flavored liqueur
1 ounce freshly squeezed lime juice (about one lime)
1/2 ounce Grand Marnier or 1/2 ounce gran gala
kosher salt
ice

Steps:

Pour a thin line of kosher salt on a plate. Rub lime slice around outside rim of martini glass to wet rim with lime juice. Turn martini glass sideways and roll the rim in the line of kosher salt.
Fill cocktail shaker with ice. Add fresh lime juice, tequila, and triple sec. Shake very well.
Pour shaken mixture into the salt-rimmed martini glass, leaving all ice in the shaker.
Slowly pour the 1/2 ounce of Cointreau, Grand Marnier, or Gran Gala on top.
Garnish with lime slice on rim and lime peel twist/curl in drink.
Enjoy the purists' margarita. :).

1 lime, halved
Kosher salt
1/2 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (5 limes)
2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (1 lemon)
1 cup Triple Sec
1 cup white tequila
2 cups ice, plus extra for serving

Steps:

If you like margaritas served in a glass with salt, rub the outside rims of 6glasses with a cut lime and dip each glass lightly into a plate of kosher salt.
Combine the lime juice, lemon juice, Triple Sec, tequila, and ice in a blender and puree. Place extra ice in a cocktail shaker. Fill with margarita mix, shake well, and strain into glasses.

2 limes, cut into wedges
crushed ice

Steps:

Mix margarita mix, tequila, orange liqueur, and raspberry liqueur together in a pitcher.
Place salt on a small, shallow plate. Moisten rims of 8 margarita glasses with a wedge of lime; dip the rims to coat with salt. Squeeze some lime juice into each glass. Add ice. Pour margarita mixture over ice.
