Bakeapples in cold water to preserve them and let them ripe some more. I'm using my preserved bake apples for this recipe and they are as good now has they were when I picked them, I'm also going to share with you a link to the method to how you would preserve your bake apples if you go pick some. This recipe is quick and easy to make and you will be so glad you made it, so tasty. Crumbles made from oatmeal, flour, butter, and allspice and bake apples cooked and deseeded to make a creamy filling. I cooked the bake apples for about 10 minutes and then I strained them through a strainer to remove any stones, bake apples also known as cloudberries are full of small stones. Bake apple boiling in 1/2 cup sugar to make a filling for our crumbles. This is the bake apples pushed through a strainer to remove the juice and release the stones. You don't need to remove the stones from the bake apples but it makes some dessert more enjoyable because you are not picking stones out of your teeth. ???? I leave them in when I make pastry tarts I just like the crush, but not for this dessert or cheesecake. Juice strained from the bake apples for the filling. Freshly made pastry's with cream cheese filling and Bakeapple jam topped with whipped cream. Homemade bake apple crumbles with fresh bake apple jam on the side. delicious bake apple filling running out of the crumble. • Add all of the ingredients to a medium sized pot. I find that a few tablespoons of water added to the pot, does help to break down the berries a little faster and possibly prevent burning during the early cooking process. Frozen berries are less likely to need this but I tend to add it all the time. It does no harm in either case.
  • Slowly bring the pot to a gentle simmer over low to medium-low heat, stirring occasionally, about every 5 minutes, so as to prevent scorching the jam on the bottom of the pot.
  • The more berries you use, the longer it should cook in general. Cook a small batch like this for about a half hour, or until the berries have softened completely and most of the liquid has boiled off, leaving an easily spoonable jam. The jam will thicken slightly as it cools as well.
