Break out a family favorite: tuna casserole. The traditional comfort food is great for serving large groups. In our tuna casserole recipe, we cut the sauce with chicken broth, but there's enough milk to make this casserole feel indulgent.

Coarse salt and ground pepper
3/4 pound tubetti or elbow macaroni
1 cup panko (Japanese breadcrumbs)
1/2 ounce Parmesan, grated (2 tablespoons)
2 tablespoons plus 2 teaspoons extra-virgin olive oil
1 yellow onion, diced small
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 1/2 cups low-sodium chicken broth
1 1/2 cups whole milk
2 cans (6 ounces each) solid light tuna packed in water, drained and flaked
1 cup frozen peas, thawed

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees. In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta 2 minutes less than package instructions (it will be undercooked). Drain. In a small bowl, toss together panko, Parmesan, and 2 teaspoons oil.
  • In pot, heat 2 tablespoons oil over medium-high. Add onion, season with salt and pepper, and cook until softened, 8 minutes. Add flour and whisk to coat onion with flour. Slowly whisk in broth, then milk.
  • Cook, stirring constantly, until sauce comes to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, stirring frequently, until sauce is thickened, about 8 minutes. Stir in pasta, tuna, and peas and season to taste with salt and pepper.
  • Transfer tuna mixture to a 9-by-13-inch baking dish and top with panko mixture. Bake until sauce is bubbling and crust is golden, 17 to 20 minutes. Let cool 10 minutes before serving.

1 (12 ounce) package egg noodles
¼ cup chopped onion
2 cups shredded Cheddar cheese
1 cup frozen green peas
2 (5 ounce) cans tuna, drained
2 (10.75 ounce) cans condensed cream of mushroom soup
½ (4.5 ounce) can sliced mushrooms
1 cup crushed potato chips

Steps:

  • Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Cook pasta in boiling water for 8 to 10 minutes, or until al dente; drain.
  • Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C).
  • In a large bowl, thoroughly mix noodles, onion, 1 cup cheese, peas, tuna, soup and mushrooms. Transfer to a 9x13 inch baking dish, and top with potato chip crumbs and remaining 1 cup cheese.
  • Bake for 15 to 20 minutes in the preheated oven, or until cheese is bubbly.

cans 3 or 4 cream of celery soup (depends on your taste)
1 can (6 oz.) tuna in spring water
3 cans peas, drained
Bread crumbs or crumbled potato chips to cover (optional for topping)

Steps:

  • Boil egg noodles according to package directions, drain & put into a greased 13x9 baking dish.
  • Add the cream of celery soup, tuna, & peas, mix well. Put the bread crumbs or crushed potato chips on top if desire.
  • Put into 350 degrees F oven for 35 minutes or until topping is golden brown.

1/2 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup milk
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

4 cups cooked small pasta shells
2 cups fresh broccoli florets
1 can (12 ounces) tuna, drained and flaked
1/2 cup chopped sweet red pepper
1/2 cup sliced green onions

Steps:

  • In a large bowl, combine the first seven ingredients; stir until smooth. Stir in the pasta, broccoli, tuna, red pepper and onions. transfer to a greased 2-qt. baking dish. Cover and bake at 350° for 40-45 minutes or until hot and bubbly.

I love a good creamy tuna noodle casserole! My own concoction, chock-full of some of my favorite ingredients! Sometimes I change up the cheese and add swiss or fontina, and sometimes I add peas. But this is my basic recipe. And you can change it to suit your own tastes as well. Enjoy! (photo from bing images)

8 oz. - wide egg noodles (half of a 16 oz. bag)
1 can - cream of celery soup
1/2 cup - milk
1/2 cup - sour cream
1 can - white albacore tuna in water, drained
2 cups - monterey jack cheese, grated, divided
1 (6 oz.) - jar sliced mushrooms, drained (or 8 oz. can, drained)
1 (8 oz.) - can sliced waterchestnuts, drained
1 1/2 cups - crushed ruffles potato chips, divided in half (3/4 and 3/4)

Steps:

  • Cook noodles according to package directions. Drain in colander in sink. While noodles are cooking, mix in large bowl the soup, milk, sour cream and tuna well. Stir in mushrooms, water chestnuts, noodles, half of cheese, and half of potato chips.Pour/spoon into lightly sprayed 2 quart casserole dish. Top with rest of potato chips, sprinkle with rest of cheese. Lightly sprinkle top with dried parsley flakes for a little color. Bake, uncovered, in 350 oven for 25 minutes or til heated through. Serve with additional sour cream if desired. *Can add one small drained can of peas, or 1 cup frozen, if preferred. Other cheeses that work well are swiss, fontina, co-jack, provolone, muenster and cheddar.

2 1/2 cups of basmiti rice (uncooked)
4 cups of water for cooking rice
1 tablespoon olive oil
4 (5 ounce) cans albacore tuna (drained) or 20 ounces of any kind tuna (drained)
1 medium sweet onion, chopped small
2 stalks celery, chopped small
1 cup frozen sweet peas
2 teaspoons salt
1 (10 ounce) can Campbell's Cream of Mushroom Soup
1 (10 ounce) can of campbells cream of celery soup
1 (10 ounce) can of campbells cheddar cheese soup
1 empty soup can whole milk

Steps:

  • Bring the water to a boil & add 1 tbs. of olive oil and the rice.
  • Stir once then put heat on low & cover tightly with lid and do not remove lid
  • during cooking for15 minutes Set aside when done.
  • Meanwhile, saute your chopped onions and celery together in a little olive oil for a few minutes to soften a little. Set aside.
  • Put all 3 of the soups in a large mixing bowl and blend together with the milk using a large spoon. Then add all of the rest of the ingredients(except the rice) and blend together. Blend in the cooked rice last.
  • Now, transfer the mixture to a large 13x9 lightly greased baking dish, If you like, you can sprinkle parmesan cheese on top.
  • Bake at 350 degrees for 40 minutes uncovered. Enjoy.
  • SERVES 8-10.
