Make a delicious 12-inch pizza with this quick and easy pizza dough recipe. Bake the crust ahead of time and freeze it until pizza night.

2 1/2 teaspoons active dry yeast
1/2 cup water (95 to 110 F)
1/2 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (approximately)

Steps:

  • Gather the ingredients.
  • In a medium bowl, stir the yeast into the warm water until dissolved.
  • Stir in the sugar, salt, and oil.
  • Add in 1 1/2 cups of flour. Mix the dough in the bowl and add additional flour, if needed, so the dough can be worked without it feeling too wet.
  • Turn the dough out onto a board dusted with flour and quickly knead it for 3 minutes. Add more flour, a tablespoon at a time, if the dough remains too sticky to knead. It should feel smooth, and your hands should be clean once you're done kneading it.
  • Place the dough into a greased bowl and flip it over so the dough top is also lightly greased.
  • Cover with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm, draft-free place until it has doubled in size, or about 30 minutes.
  • Punch the dough down to release the trapped air and give the crust a better texture. Roll it out and press it into a greased 12-inch pizza pan or into a well-oiled skillet pan. If using a pan press the dough up on the edges to form the crust.
  • Add sauce and your desired toppings.
  • Bake the pizza at 400 F for about 20 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. Serve and enjoy!

4 servings Fleischmann's Active Dry Yeast
5 servings Gold Medal All-Purpose Flour
3/4 tsp Salt
1 tbsp Olive Oil
1/2 cup Water

Steps:

  • In a medium bowl combine half the flour, yeast, salt, oil and warm water (100 °F).
  • Mix until a smooth consistency is made then slowly add the remaining flour until it thickens.
  • Once dough is thick, remove from bowl to a lightly floured cutting board or similar. Knead for 2-3 minutes then place in another bowl and cover for 15 minutes.
  • Once it has risen, roll out to 12" diameter 1/8" or thinner thickness and place on a stone or cookie sheet.
  • Add your favorite toppings and bake.

Note:This is one of the recipes I adopted in the Great 'Zaar Ophan Adoption of 2005. I hope you enjoy it.

Number Of Ingredients 6

2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (may substitute whole wheat flour for 1 cup of the all-purpose)
1 (1/4 ounce) package active dry yeast
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup warm water
1/2-1 tablespoon olive oil
cornmeal, for sprinkling

Steps:

  • Mix a little sugar into the warm water.
  • Sprinkle yeast on top.
  • Wait for 10 minutes or until it gets all foamy.
  • Pour into a large bowl.
  • Add flour, salt, olive oil.
  • Combine.
  • Knead for 6-8 minutes until you have a moderately stiff dough that is smooth and elastic (add a bit more flour if you need to).
  • Cover and let rest for 20-30 minutes.
  • Lightly grease two 12-inch pizza pans.
  • Sprinkle with a little bit of cornmeal.
  • Divide dough in half.
  • Place each half on a pizza pan and pat it with your fingers until it stretches over the whole pan.
  • Try to make it thicker around the edge.
  • If desired, pre-bake at 425 F for 10 minutes (I don't always do this).
  • Then spread with pizza sauce and use the toppings of your choice.
  • Bake at 425 F for 10-20 minutes longer or until bubbly and hot.
  • Makes 2 12-inch pizzas.
  • If you don't want to use all the dough, you can freeze it.
  • Take a portion of dough, form into a ball, rub olive oil over it and place it in a freezer bag (the oil makes it easier to take out of the bag).
  • When you want to make a pizza, take dough out of freezer and allow to thaw before using.
