Easy, easy, serve with anything you like; kids love this one and so do adults.

3 eggs, beaten
1 cup milk
¼ teaspoon salt
½ cup butter, softened
⅔ cup brown sugar
1 (16 ounce) loaf French bread, cut into 1-inch slices
2 teaspoons ground cinnamon, or to taste

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Whisk eggs, milk, and salt together in a bowl; pour into a shallow dish. Soak bread slices in egg mixture until saturated.
  • Spread softened butter over the bottom of a 10x15-inch jelly roll pan. Sprinkle brown sugar over the butter. Arrange bread slices onto sugar in a single layer; sprinkle with cinnamon.
  • Bake in preheated oven until beginning to firm, 25 to 30 minutes.

6 thick slices bread
2 eggs
⅔ cup milk
¼ teaspoon ground cinnamon
¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
salt to taste

Steps:

  • Beat together egg, milk, salt, desired spices and vanilla.
  • Heat a lightly oiled griddle or skillet over medium-high heat.
  • Dunk each slice of bread in egg mixture, soaking both sides. Place in pan, and cook on both sides until golden. Serve hot.

2 large eggs
1/4 cup half-and-half
1/8 teaspoon nutmeg
1 pinch sea salt, ground
4 thick slices bread
2 tablespoons butter

Steps:

  • In a bowl, combine eggs, half-and-half, nutmeg and salt; beat until very well mixed. One at a time, dip a slice of bread on both sides until well coated. Place coated bread on a plate while dipping the others.
  • In a large skillet over medium heat, add butter. When melted and just starting to sizzle, add egged bread slices. Brown each side for 4 minutes. If you prefer a crispier texture, after they're browned on each side, cook again for an additional 2 minutes per side.
  • Transfer them to serving plates and serve with either butter, maple syrup, a dusting of icing sugar or all the above. Serves 2.
