2 lb top sirloin steak -- cut 2 1/2" thick
2 Tbsp. garlic spread
2 Tbsp. vegetable oil
1 tsp salt
1 1/2 tsp seasoned pepper
1/2 c. Cheddar cheese -- shredded
1 c. bread crumbs

Steps:

  • Trim fat from steak. Make a paste from garlic spread, vegetable oil, salt, and seasoned pepper. Spread on both sides of steak. Combine cheese and bread crumbs; pat on steak. Place steak in brown paper bag (large sufficient to fit steak comfortably). Seal loosely with paper clips. Bake in preheated 375 degree F. oven 30 min. Increase oven temperature to 425 degrees F. and bake steak for 15 min longer. Unseal bag to serve. Notes: For easy handling, place bag on cookie sheet during baking. Annette advises, "You can bake steak early in the day, then bake at 425 degrees just before serving." Yield: 6 servings.

This method produces a juicy, tender steak. You can increase cooking time if you prefer your steak to be other than medium-rare. You'll have to experiment with that, however, since I like mine medium-rare and haven't tried it any other way.

2 -3 lbs top sirloin steaks, about 2 1/2 inch thick
seasoned salt and pepper
4 tablespoons vegetable oil
4 tablespoons butter, softened
1 cup fine breadcrumbs
4 ounces sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
fresh parsley (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Remove excess fat from steak.
  • Sprinkle with seasoned salt and pepper.
  • Spread oil and then butter on steak.
  • Combine bread crumbs and cheese.
  • Press this mixture onto steak, coating well.
  • Place steak in bag and fold over ends securely.
  • Place bag on a rimmed baking sheet.
  • Bake in oven at 350 degrees for 30 to 40 minutes for medium-rare meat.
  • Remove steak from bag and let stand for 5 minutes before slicing.
  • Sprinkle steak with parsley before serving.

1 medium onion, finely chopped
1 can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup peanut butter
2 cups water

Steps:

  • Brown pork chops in oil; remove from pan.
  • Put peanut butter and soup in pan and heat, adding water gradually; stir until smooth.
  • Add pork chops back to pan and add onion; bring to a boil.
  • Reduce heat and simmer 50 minutes.
  • Serve with rice.
