Applesauce Sundae Recipes

APPLESAUCE SUNDAE

Steps:

• Prepare an ice-water bath. Stir together sugar and 1 cup water in a medium saucepan. Bring to a boil, stirring until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat; pour into a metal bowl set in ice-water bath. Let cool completely, stirring occasionally.
• Whisk in buttermilk, cream, corn syrup, salt, and vanilla seeds (reserve bean for another use). Freeze in an ice cream maker according to manufacturer's instructions. Transfer to an airtight container and freeze at least 1 hour and up to 3 days.
• Scoop ice cream into serving dishes and top with a spoonful of applesauce. Garnish with apple slices; serve immediately.

HOT APPLE SUNDAES

Steps:

• In a saucepan over medium heat, bring sugar, juices and cinnamon to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, for 5 minutes. Add apples and return to a boil. Reduce heat; over and simmer for 15 minutes or until the apples are tender. Serve warm over ice cream. Sprinkle with cinnamon if desired.

SARAH'S APPLESAUCE

Steps:

• In a saucepan, combine apples, water, sugar, and cinnamon. Cover, and cook over medium heat for 15 to 20 minutes, or until apples are soft. Allow to cool, then mash with a fork or potato masher.

APPLESCOTCH SUNDAES

Steps:

• In a large saucepan, combine the brown sugar, flour, water, lemon juice and salt; stir until smooth. Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened. Add apples; return to a boil. Reduce heat; cover and simmer for 10-12 minutes or until apples are tender. , Remove from the heat; add butter and vanilla. Stir until butter is melted. Serve warm or at room temperature over ice cream.

CRAN-APPLESAUCE SUNDAES

Steps:

• For dessert, warm the apple and cranberry sauces in microwave or in a small pot over low heat and season with cinnamon and orange zest. Place a little cranapple sauce in the bottom of a sundae dish, top with 2 scoops ice cream, more sauce and whipped cream, garnish with chopped pecans.

TURKEY SWEET POTATO SHEPHERD'S PIE AND CRAN-APPLESAUCE SUNDAES

Steps:

• Preheat oven to 425 degrees F.
• In a deep skillet or a Dutch oven heat 2 tablespoons oil over high heat. Add meat and break up with a wooden spoon, season with salt and pepper and poultry seasoning.
• Place sweet potatoes in a pot, cover with water, cover pot, bring to a boil, add salt and cook 15 minutes until tender.
• Add onions, carrots and celery into the turkey. Stir, and cook for 5 minutes. While vegetables are cooking, heat 2 tablespoons butter in a small pot over medium heat. Add flour to melted butter and whisk 1 minute. Whisk in stock and season with salt, pepper and Worcestershire. Cook a few minutes to thicken.
• Stir peas into meat and turn heat off.
• Drain potatoes and return pot to heat. Add remaining 2 tablespoons of butter and melt over medium heat. Peel and slice banana and add potatoes to the pot. Season the potatoes with salt and pepper and a few dashes hot sauce. Mash potatoes and banana to combine, adjust seasoning. Top the meat with the potatoes. Cover potatoes with cheese and place in the oven to melt cheese, about 5 minutes.
• For dessert, warm the apple and cranberry sauces in microwave or in a small pot over low heat and season with cinnamon and orange zest. Place a little cran-applesauce in the bottom of a sundae dish, top with 2 scoops ice cream, more sauce and whipped cream, garnish with chopped pecans.

HOT APPLESAUCE SUNDAE

Steps:

• Combine ingredients and warm till it bubbles (either stove top or in the microwave).
• Spoon over vanilla ice cream and enjoy.
• Store remaining sauce in fridge (can be reheated in microwave).
• Homemade applesauce works great--especially if a bit chunky!
