Green Beans with Bacon image

A green bean recipe with bacon that my kids love.

3 teaspoons olive oil
1 teaspoon minced garlic
2 ½ cups fresh green beans, trimmed
1 tablespoon brown sugar
sea salt to taste
3 slices smoked bacon, cut into small strips, or to taste
4 tablespoons chicken broth, or more as needed

Steps:

  • Heat oil in a skillet over low heat. Add garlic and cook for 30 seconds. Stir in green beans and brown sugar, and season with sea salt. Add bacon, increase heat to medium, and stir.
  • Pour chicken broth into the pan, cover, and let simmer for 10 minutes. Stir, adding more broth if needed. Cover and cook for another 10 minutes. Stir, uncover, and simmer over low heat until liquid evaporates, about 10 minutes more. Serve.

1 1/2 pounds thin fresh green beans (haricot verts or french green beans work best))
6 slices bacon (cut in half (do not use thick-cut bacon))
1/4 cup butter (melted)
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
2-4 Tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 Tablespoon fresh rosemary (finely chopped)
1 Tablespoon chopped parsley (optional)

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 400 degrees F. Line baking sheet with parchment paper or foil for easy cleanup. Separate the bacon slices and lay flat on the baking sheet. Bake for 8 minutes.
  • Meanwhile, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Cook the green beans for 2 minutes, just until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain and rinse with cold water for 1 minute immediately or put in ice bath. Pat dry.
  • Combine butter, garlic powder, and salt in a small bowl. Pour over green beans, tossing to coat.
  • Wrap 8-10 green beans into a bundle with half a piece of bacon, securing with a toothpick. Lay on the baking sheet and repeat until all of the beans are wrapped. Combine brown sugar, pepper, and rosemary. Sprinkle over the bundles.
  • Bake for 15-20 minutes until the bacon is crispy and the green beans are tender. Sprinkle with chopped parsley.

6 slices bacon
1 ½ pounds green beans (6-8 beans per bundle)
½ teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon garlic powder
salt & pepper to taste
1 tablespoon brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 375°F.
  • Cook bacon on the stovetop until slightly cooked (not crispy), about 3-4 minutes. Reserve any drippings.
  • Trim and wash green beans. Bring a large pot of water to a boil, add baking soda. Add green beans and cook 3 minutes until tender-crisp. Remove from boiling water and place in a bowl of ice water to stop cooking.
  • Dab beans dry and toss with reserved bacon drippings (about 2 teaspoons) or olive oil if you don't have drippings, garlic powder, and salt & pepper to taste.
  • Cut each slice of bacon in half and wrap around about 6-8 green beans, secure with a toothpick, and place on a parchment-lined pan.
  • Combine brown sugar with 1 tablespoon of water and lightly brush over each bundle.
  • Roast 20-22 minutes or until bacon is crisp and beans are lightly roasted.

20 fresh green beans
2 maple-flavored bacon strips, halved
1/4 cup butter, cubed
1 tablespoon brown sugar
2 teaspoons orange juice concentrate

Steps:

  • Place beans in a saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, for 3 minutes; drain. Place bacon on a microwave-safe plate. Microwave on high for 45-60 seconds or until edges curl. Wrap 5 green beans with a half bacon strip; secure with a wooden toothpick. Repeat. , Place bundles in a greased 1-qt. baking dish. In a small saucepan, combine the butter, brown sugar and orange juice concentrate. Cook and stir over medium heat until butter is melted and sugar is dissolved. Pour over bundles. Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a casserole dish.
  • Set out the bacon, green beans and casserole dish in a little assembly line. Lay out a half strip of bacon. place a small bunch of green beans (6 or 7) onto the strip of bacon and roll up into a bundle. Place the bundle into the casserole dish, seam side down. Repeat with remaining bacon strips and green beans. You can pack these pretty tight in the pan, just know that if the bacon is touching another bundle they take some prying to get apart. 1/4 cup packed brown sugar

  • Place beans in a large saucepan and cover with water. Bring to a boil. Cook, uncovered, for 8 minutes or until crisp-tender. Meanwhile, in a skillet, cook bacon over medium heat until cooked but not crisp, about 3 minutes. Remove to paper towels. , Drain beans; place about 12 beans on each bacon strip. 1 pound fresh green beans, trimmed
cooking spray
1 (12 ounce) package thin-sliced smoked maple bacon, cut in 1/2
½ cup butter, melted
½ cup brown sugar
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons soy sauce
1 tablespoon minced garlic

Steps:

  • Fill a large bowl with ice and cold water. Bring a large pot of lightly salted water to a boil. Add green beans and cook uncovered until tender-crisp, 2 to 3 minutes. Drain in a colander and immediately immerse in ice water for several minutes to stop the cooking process. Drain.
  • Spray a 9x13-inch baking dish with cooking spray.

1 cube beef bouillon
4 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons brown sugar

Steps:

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  • Place bacon in a large, deep skillet. Cook over medium high heat until partially cooked. Drain, cut each piece in half, and set aside.
  • Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Place the green beans on a rack or special steamer basket over the boiling water. Cover with a lid so that the steam does not escape.
