Here is a little trivia: allspice comes from the pea-size berry of the evergreen pimento tree, native to Jamaica. It can be purchased whole or ground. The spice is so named because it tastes like a combination of cinnamon, nutmeg and cloves.

Ingredients

4 medium bananas
2 tablespoons butter, melted
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon ground allspice
1/3 cup packed brown sugar

Steps:

Heat oven to 350°.
Cut bananas cross-wise in half; cut each half lengthwise in half.
Place cut sides up in ungreased square baking dish, 9x9x2".
Mix butter, lemon juice and allspice; brush over bananas.
Sprinkle with brown sugar.
Bake uncovered about 15 minutes or until bananas are hot.

These ridiculously easy Baked Bananas with brown sugar and cinnamon are not only a decadent dessert but also a great use of overripe bananas! Oven-roasted bananas are full of flavor and feel like the ultimate comfort food!

Overripe bananas (1 per person)
1-2 TBSP butter
1 TBSP brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla
Sprinkle of cinnamon

Steps:

Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
Unpeel the banana and place in a baking dish.
Place a pat of butter right on top of the banana.
Sprinkle on cinnamon and sugar trying to cover the whole banana.
Finish with a drizzle of vanilla on top.
Bake for about 10-15 minutes.
Repeat with additional bananas.
