ASIAN BBQ SAUCE

Fresh ginger, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and green onions give an all-purpose topping a flavorful Asian bbq sauce twist.

2 cups ketchup
1/2 cup Dijon mustard
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup rice vinegar
2 tablespoon ginger (fresh and grated)
1/2 cup green onions (minced)
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
1 teaspoon soy sauce
1 teaspoon sesame oil

Steps:

Whisk the ketchup, mustard, brown sugar, vinegar, ginger, green onions , cayenne, soy sauce, and sesame oil in a medium saucepan. Bring to a simmer, stirring occasionally, and remove the pan from the heat.
Let the sauce cool to room temperature, then use toward the end of barbecuing, applying the sauce with a basting brush and serving extra sauce on the side.

Preheat a grill to medium. Grill 8 hot dogs, turning, until lightly charred in spots, 5 to 7 minutes, brushing with barbecue sauce during the last minute of cooking. Toast 8 hot dog buns on the grill until marked, about 30 seconds. Serve the hot dogs on the toasted buns with assorted toppings.

12 hot dogs, scored diagonally
1 small onion, sliced
1 tablespoon butter
1/2 cup ketchup
1/2 cup water
4 teaspoons sugar
1/4 cup vinegar
4 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon celery salt
1 teaspoon dry mustard
1/2 teaspoon paprika
1/2 teaspoon hot sauce

Steps:

Heat oven to 325.
Put the hot dogs in a 12 x 8 x 2" baking dish.
In medium saucepan,saute the onion in the butter,until tender.
When tender,remove from burner,add in remaining ingredients.
Stir,combining well.
Pour mixture over hot dogs.
Bake for 25 minutes.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons butter
1 onion, chopped
2 tablespoons brown sugar
¾ cup ketchup
2 tablespoons yellow mustard
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
4 hot dogs
½ (8 ounce) package processed cheese food (such as Velveeta®), cubed, or to taste
4 hot dog buns
4 sheets aluminum foil

Steps:

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C).
Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir in onion and brown sugar and cook until onion is soft but not yet brown, about 5 minutes. Add ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce; bring to a simmer. Remove from heat.
Cut a slit through each hot dog and fill with cubes of cheese food. Place dogs in buns and cover meat with onion sauce, about 3 tablespoons each. Wrap in aluminum foil.
Bake in the preheated oven until piping hot throughout, about 15 minutes.
