3/4 cup drayman's porter (beer)
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1 teaspoon seasoning salt
1 1/2 teaspoons black pepper
1 1/2 teaspoons garlic salt

Steps:

  • mix ingredients in a freezer or storage bag - add steak and allow to marinade for several hours. Can also be stored in freezer for a later meal. Broil or grill as preferred.

While searching for the perfect marinade I found this one on Allrecipes.com posted by Craig Jones. It was so fabulous I wanted to share with the Zaar community so am posting it here for all to enjoy! Your steaks will be tantalizingly tasty and delightfuly delicious!!! By the way it had 101 reviews on the site and got 4 1/2 stars!

2 (16 ounce) beef sirloin steaks
1/4 cup dark beer
2 tablespoons teriyaki sauce
2 tablespoons brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon seasoning salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

Steps:

  • Use a fork to poke holes all over the surface of the steaks, and place steaks in a large baking dish.
  • In a bowl, mix together beer, teriyaki sauce, and brown sugar.
  • Pour sauce over steaks, and let sit about 15-30 minutes.
  • Sprinkle with 1/2 the seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder; set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Preheat grill for high heat.
  • Turn steaks over, sprinkle with remaining seasoned salt, pepper, and garlic powder, and continue marinating for 10 more minutes.
  • Remove steaks from marinade. Pour marinade into a small saucepan, bring to a boil, and cook for several minutes.
  • Lightly oil the grill grate. Grill steaks for 7 minutes per side, or to desired doneness. During the last few minutes of grilling, baste steaks with boiled marinade to enhance the flavor and ensure juiciness.

I made this for a friend's birthday dinner and it was so good my husband asked me to make again over the weekend. Easy, flavorful marinade for flank steak. I adapted this from Bon Appetit.

1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons olive oil
3 large garlic cloves, minced
2 teaspoons Dijon mustard
2 teaspoons chopped fresh rosemary
2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
2 teaspoons fresh coarse ground black pepper
1/2 cup lager beer (such as Heineken)
2 1/2 lbs flank steaks

Steps:

  • Whisk first 7 ingredients in medium bowl, then whisk in beer. Pour marinade into large resealable plastic bag. Add steaks, seal bag, and chill 1 day, turning bag occasionally.
  • Grill over medium-high heat for 5 minutes per side for medium rare. Alternatively, place steaks in hot grill pan or skillet and cook until well browned and thermometer inserted into center registers 125°F to 130°F for medium-rare, about 5 minutes per side.
  • Transfer steaks to carving board and let rest 5 minutes.
  • Slice steaks thinly across grain. Arrange on platter; spoon any accumulated juices over and serve.
