1/2 cup vegetable oil
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
1 tablespoon anise extract, or 3 drops anise oil
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, beat together the oil, eggs, sugar and anise flavoring until well blended. Combine the flour and baking powder, stir into the egg mixture to form a heavy dough. Divide dough into 2 pieces. Form each piece into a roll as long as your cookie sheet. Place roll onto the prepared cookie sheet, and press down to 1/2-inch thickness.
  • Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, until golden brown. Remove from the baking sheet to cool on a wire rack. When the cookies are cool enough to handle, slice each 1 crosswise into 1/2-inch slices. Place the slices cut side up back onto the baking sheet. Bake for an additional 6 to 10 minutes on each side. Cookie slices should be lightly toasted.

* Granulated Sugar, 1 cup
* *Almond extract, 2 tsp
* *Vanilla (Pure Vanilla from Madagascar), 2 tsp
* *All Purpose Unbleached Flour, 3.25 cup
* Baking Powder, 2 tsp
* Almonds, .5 cup, whole

Steps:

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Grease cookie sheets or line with parchment paper. In a medium bowl, beat together the butter, eggs, sugar, almond extract and vanilla extract until well blended. Combine the flour and baking powder, stir into the egg mixture to form a heavy dough. 1 baby back rib rack
salt and pepper
1 onion, sliced
12 garlic cloves
1 tablespoon smoked paprika
2 tablespoons liquid smoke
3/4 cup reduced-sugar ketchup (tomato paste thinned out will work)
3 tablespoons red wine vinegar

Steps:

  • Take 1 rack of baby back ribs and trim all visible fat. Then, season with salt and pepper and place on a 2-foot long piece of aluminum foil on a baking sheet.
  • In a separate bowl, combine the paprika, liquid smoke, ketchup and red wine vinegar.
  • Pour sauce over ribs and turn to coat completely. Scatter onions and garlic over the top. Place the foil over the ribs so it's tightly sealed. Place on the grill for 1 hour and 30 minutes. Or, to enjoy all year round, place in the oven at 425°F for 1/2 hour and then lower to 275°F for another hour, until meat is tender.
