BLT RANCH BURGER

1 cup mayonnaise
1/2 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons minced fresh chives
2 tablespoons minced fresh flat-leaf parsley
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound lean ground beef (80/20)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 potato buns, buttered and toasted
8 pieces cooked bacon, cut in half
1 ripe tomato, sliced
Bibb lettuce leaves, for topping

Steps:

  • For the dressing: Combine the mayonnaise, buttermilk, chives, parsley, salt, pepper and garlic powder in a medium bowl and mix well. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
  • For the burgers: Preheat an outdoor grill to medium-high heat.
  • In a bowl, combine the beef, Worcestershire sauce, egg, salt and pepper. Shape into 4 patties.
  • Grill the patties for about 5 minutes per side for medium doneness.
  • Place each patty on a bun and top with bacon, tomato, lettuce and a generous dollop of dressing. Close the burgers with the top bun half and serve immediately.

Did I say BLT and ranch and burger? All three in one recipe? Yep. I made these burgers for a group of friends one afternoon and they pretty much lost their minds. The ranch dressing is rich and creamy next to the beefy burger with that crispy bacon, lettuce, and tomato. They are truly indulgent!

1 cup (240 ml) mayonnaise
1/2 cup (120 ml) plain yogurt
1/4 cup (60 ml) buttermilk
2 tablespoons minced fresh chives

1/4 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1 pound (455 g) lean ground beef
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 large egg, lightly beaten
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper

1/2 pound slab bacon, cut into 1x1/4-inch pieces
4 cups cubed (1 inch) French bread
1 teaspoon dried thyme
4 cups baby arugula
4 cups frisée
4 ripe tomatoes, cut into 1-inch cubes
2 tablespoons snipped fresh chives
1/2 cup prepared ranch dressing

Steps:

  • 1. Cook the bacon in a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat until golden brown. Drain on paper towel. Reserve 2 tablepsoons of the bacon fat.
  • 2. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  • 3. Toss bread cubes with bacon fat, thyme, salt, and pepper. Spread in a single layer on a rimmed baking sheet and bake until golden, 12-15 minutes, shaking the pan once.
  • 4. Place arugula and frisée in a bowl.

This recipe is from Kraft's website. The recipe orginally was supposed to use Kraft's Cheese dogs but you can use whatever type of hot dog you'd like. The amount of ranch dressing is an estimate. I always buy a bottle and use more. I even have been known to throw in some cucumber every now and then.

6 hot dog buns, partially split, toasted lightly
1/4 cup iceberg lettuce, shredded
1/4 cup tomatoes, chopped (I use any tomato sold "on the vine")
1/4 cup red onion, chopped
1/2 cup buttermilk ranch dressing
1/4 cup bacon, cooked drained and crumbled

Steps:

  • Grill the hot dogs until they are heated through, turning occasionally.
  • Assemble The hot dog starting with the toasted bun and adding the shredded Lettuce.
  • Next add the onions and tomatoes.
  • Place the hot dog on top of the onions and tomatoes.
  • Drizzle with 1 Tablespoon of the ranch dressing and top with crumbled bacon.

I wanted something simple and fresh for dinner and I threw this together with what I had on hand. If you don't have pre-cooked chicken on hand just throw a couple of breasts in a baking and sprinkle with Rotisserie Seasoning. Bake at 350 degrees or until done.
