To celebrate the blue moon on New Year's Eve I made & enjoyed a version of a drink from Blue Ice American Vodka. The original recipe is called a Blue Ghost but I changed it up & changed the name to fit the special occasion. The second full moon in a month is called a blue moon. December 31, 2009's blue moon was coupled with a partial lunar eclipse. The next time a blue moon will fall on a New Year's Eve will be in the year 2028 and at that time a full lunar eclipse will occur. I'm usually an Absolut vodka gal, but in this case I needed a gluten free vodka. Amazingly, I found a vodka made in my home state out of our famous Idaho russet potatoes. This drink is smooth & so beautiful! I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. :)

1 1/4 ounces blue ice american vodka
1 ounce blue curacao
4 ounces Sprite (or 7-Up)
1 lime (a squeeze for drink & a slice for garnish)
1/2 cup crushed ice

Steps:

Fill a 6-8 oz glass with crushed ice.
Add vodka, Curacao & soda.
Give the lime a squeeze over the drink.
Garnish with a slice of lime & serve.

1/4 cup crushed ice
1 tablespoon vanilla vodka
1 tablespoon blue curacao
1 tablespoon whipping cream
1 tablespoon fresh orange juice
1 teaspoon Cointreau liqueur or 1 teaspoon other orange-flavored liqueur

Steps:

Combine ingredients in a blender and whirl until smooth.
Pour into a martini glass and garnish the rim with a slice of orange to resemble a full moon.

mmmmmmmmm Comfort food. We love the Blue Moon Burgers at a local diner. But after finding a deep-fried fly in my french fries, I refuse to go back!! We prefer our burger patties with no "fillers," just the beef and the toppings.

Ingredients

1 lb ground beef
4 large toasted hamburger buns
4 ounces crumbled blue cheese
4 ounces softened cream cheese
4 slices monterey jack cheese
mayonnaise
shaved onion (i prefer bermuda)
lettuce
tomatoes

Steps:

Combine blue cheese and cream cheese and beat well.
Set aside to give the flavors time to meld.
Form the ground beef into 4 patties.
Salt and pepper, if desired, and cook as desired (we grill EVERYTHING in Arizona!).
When burgers are done, add 1/4 of the blue cheese mixture to the top of each burger.
Top with a slice of jack cheese.
Spread mayo on toasted buns.
When jack cheese is somewhat"gooey," place burgers on buns.
Add remaining toppings.
Don't use ketchup!
Ketchup and blue cheese do NOT go together!

Pour all ingredients except pineapple juice into a cocktail shaker, and mix well.
Pour into a cocktail glass filled with ice and add pineapple juice to taste.
Mix well.
