BLUEBERRY-OAT SMOOTHIES
This is definatly a wake you up, "wow this is diffrent" smoothie, i had never thought to put oatmeal in one before, but after soaking, there is no stiffness to it at all! *if using fresh blueberries, 2 or 3 ice cubes may be added to make it a chilly treat*

- In a blender, combine all ingredients; cover and process for 30 seconds or until smooth. Pour into chilled glasses and serve immediately.

BLUEBERRY OVERNIGHT OATS

- Mix 1/2 cup rolled oats, 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed, 2/3 cup milk, 1/3 cup plain yogurt, 2 teaspoons brown sugar and a pinch each of salt and cinnamon in a small jar. Add 1/4 cup crushed freeze-dried blueberries and 1/2 chopped banana. Cover and refrigerate overnight. Top with fresh or frozen berries.

Discovering wonderful smoothies with oatmeal here on Zaar, I was moved to create my own. This fruity, low-fat breakfast will keep you going all morning. [If you're like me, you may be tempted to eat the whole batch :-)]

Steps:
- Cover the dates ( however many you like, depending on sweetness) with 1/2 cup very warm water, cover and let them soften up for about 5 minutes.
- Break up the bananas into chunks and add to the food processor with the kiwi and blueberries.
- Add the dates and their soaking water. Blend well, till most date chunks are gone.
- Add the oats and blend again, till they are the consistency you like. You will probably need to add more water, this gets very thick.
- Enjoy with a spoon!

- In a bowl, cream butter and brown sugar. Beat in egg and vanilla. Combine oats, flour, cinnamon, salt, baking soda and baking powder; gradually add to the creamed mixture. Stir in the blueberries. , Drop by heaping tablespoonfuls 2 in. apart onto lightly greased baking sheets. Bake at 350° for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Remove to wire racks to cool.

- Bring the water to a boil in a medium-size saucepan. Add the salt, cinnamon, honey and oatmeal. Reduce the heat, and simmer uncovered for five minutes or until most of the water has been absorbed. Add the blueberries, orange zest and milk (or alternate beverage). Bring to a simmer, and simmer five more minutes or until the oatmeal is thick and creamy and the blueberries have begun to pop. Cover and let stand for five minutes, then serve.
